    Race to the end

Discussion in 'Plot Development' started by MizzSwampie, Sep 16, 2021.

    Hi everyone!

So, I am at the find ending of my story. I know how I want it to go but I am undecided of how to push it along the way. What would you do to get out of a writer's block?

    Experiment with multiple endings.
My finished piece went through several endings before i found the one that fit (and that i was proud of).

One of my short stories went through another dozen endings just to wrap up 8 pages of plot

    • Seems to me you are doing it backwards. I may be completely wrong. I can only share what works for me. Telling a story is a lot like telling a good joke. All you really need to know is the punch line, you can build the whatever it takes to get there often adapting the story based on the audience. Most of the stories, I write start out with the ending the reader just does not know it yet. I never seem to get stuck in a story because I know where it is going to end up and the fun is in getting it there.
What is the story line of what you are working on?
