Sometimes I wonder how my generation sounds to a non-gen zer when we say something like, " That jawn was bussin' "

I wonder why I make such hard work of things, especially anything physical. Someone at work even said as much. “You don’t half make hard work of things,” he randomly observed one day. And he’s right. I see others, similar age and probably no fitter than me, doing the same jobs without so much as a sigh, and yet there’s me, looking like I just ran a marathon. I think it boils down to the fact I just find manual labour very unagreeable.

Is it too much to ask for Fleetwood Mac to get a first-rate biopic in the nearish future?

Maybe I'm just too much of a literalist, but it bothers me reading articles with sentences like this:

Again, plague is very rare in the U.S. In 2019 and 2018, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there was a single case reported each year.

I immediately suspected that was wrong. I read the actual report and it confirmed my suspicion. What they mean was, AT LEAST a single case reported each year.

Yeah, I probably should have posted this in the 'Things That Annoy Me, But Shouldn't' thread.

Yeah no one would even know what that meant here, regardless of age. I've never heard it before.

Took me a minute, but I believe it means "The joint was busting." Meaning the place was full of people. At least I assume that's what bustin' means. It might mean it was a really cool (aka great) place.

And I think it would be easier to get if you hear somebody say it.

Gen-X/Millenial cusp here. We've been saying "jawn" in Philly at least since the '90s. "Yo, gimme that jawn with the jawn on it!"

Now, "Bussin'" is new to me, but then I'm not exactly the hippest ant in the colony.

"bussin" is like "really good" but particularly in reference to food. But I've never heard "jawn" before.

I'm corrupted because when I hear "bussin", I immediately think "bussy". Don't look that one up on a work or school computer guys.

OK, this discussion got me curious, so I had to do some googling. Turns out, quite a few people are interested in the mystery of "jawn."

No, "jawn" is a filler word for any noun and "bussin'" means very good. So instead of saying "That sandwich was delicious" you might heard an adolescent say "That jawn was bussin"
Yes, like I stated before, jawn is a filler word for any noun

Ah well, proves my point :p

"kill" and "bet" were/are words of exclamation and affirmation.

"Wanna go to the movies after school?"
    "Bet"

"i just bought the knew new Jordans"
    "Kiiiiiiill!" (Pronounced "keel")
(Sometimes enhanced by "mo"..... "Kill, mo!")
    Or
    -someone scuffs your shoe-
"Kill, mo! You messed my J's"
