*Ferelith and Solvi glance at eachother* Ferelith: It is weird, I don't entirely understand it myself. I guess there's more to it than that— Solvi: But we're not here to dump information, so, how about you tell us about your world? Do you have magic too?
Amber: I do have magic back in our world. Well, did have that. The magic just disappeared! No idea where it'd gone, though.
Haruka: No, we have no magic. At least not that I know of. Hayate: What is a Faerie? Haruka: Going by lore and fairy tales from my Earth, they would be a little similar to Youkai on Chouwa. Hayate: *watches Ferelith a bit suspiciously* No offence, but in that case I feel like I have to tell you that the Youkai and my people are at war. But from the looks of it you are not Youkai. Haruka: Guess just saying ”Sorry, I didn’t know it was wrong!” will suffice? Are there anyway to prove that it was an accident? I didn’t have much luck when I tried to explain that I have absolutely no clue how I just ended up in Suzaku’s private garden. Haruka: Oh, I don’t know... People get arrested for the strangest of things. I was locked up because I woke up in a garden. Hayate: Technically you were locked up so it could be confirmed that you are not a Youkai posing as a Chouwan by using the shapeshifting potion. Haruka: As I said Earth doesn’t have magic, but everyone does on Chouwa. Even plants have magic so you can make various potions of them. Like the shapeshifting one Hayate mentioned. Hayate: By the standards of others we on Chouwa might have pretty limited magic. We can control the elements, but each person can only control one. My element is air. *Air gathers into a ball of swirling wind in his palm*
Solvi: That's strange. I've never heard of magic just disappearing like that. Are there any theories as to how it happened? Ferelith: Well, I don't know what Youkai are, but I can assure you that I'm not one. My people did rage war once, but, that was a long time ago. We don't fight anymore. ... Solvi: I'll be honest with you... I have a bit of a history with the Society. I used to work for them, but then I realized that the things they did... They were harmful. They made me steal valuable items and hurt innocent people. I couldn't stand doing things like that anymore, so I left. But for some reason, they want me back, and that little crime was exactly the opportunity they needed to hunt me down. ... *Ferelith and Solvi stare at the swirling ball in wonder* Ferelith: Whooaa... Solvi: Fascinating... We have air magicians in our world, but they're quite the mysterious types. I've only seen a demonstration of air magic once before. Are all people on Chouwa born with these elemental powers, or do you have to gain them through training?
Amber: Well, one therory is that the government stole it with a machine that could steal someone's powers away..there was a thing like that but it got confiscated. But that theory is kinda bizarre but it is possible...we just don't have any proof to prove it.
Solvi: Interesting. Ferelith: A machine that could steal someone's powers... Imagine that! I wonder if it could be used on faeries and spirits. Solvi: I doubt anyone would want to find out. I can see why such a device would be confiscated. Ferelith: Things would become very choatic if we had that in our world.
Katsumi: You’re really of the fae, Ferelith? I’ve heard tales of your kind, but they were always just that—tales. Sapphire: And you’re a witch, Solvi—I’ve more than heard of your people. Back in Liharil—that’s where I hail from—there was a woman who was always coming into the apothecary to buy ingredients for whatever potion she was concocting that week. Nithara: What was a witch doing in the capital of Sylannor? I was under the impression they tend to stick to the woods and such. Sapphire: I believe they generally do, yes. Not her, though. That city was her home, and she wasn’t about to leave it just because it wasn’t an ideal location to practice her magic. Katsumi: I suppose introductions are in order for both of you, yes? I am Princess Katsumi Yoshimura, of Tsakato. I am from the city of Haseyama. Nithara: I am Nithara Saleth, of Atharis, in Lethania. Ayana: Ayana Volkov, of the same place. Katsumi: You two are absurdly secretive. Nithara: It’s hardly absurd. We kill and infiltrate for a living. You would be secretive, too. Katsumi: …fair enough.
Amber: (she listened to what they're saying) ...Kill? *to Nithara* What do you mean by that? Are you secretly serial killers on the run for murdering a very famous dude?
Hayate: Wish I could say the same. The war has been going on for a thousand years now. As for Youkai they used to live at the core of our planet. But for some reason it became uninhabitable so they decided to invade the surface where we Chouwans live. Haruka: As their appearance go Youkai mostly look like humanoid animals. But I’m curious, why did your people stop fighting? Haruka: I think that is very admirable. You didn’t just keep following orders but tried to change your life. Hayate: I agree. Is there a way to find out why they want you back? It migth be something you can use against them. Hayate: Both, actually. We are born with them but we don’t instictively know how to use them so we have to learn. We do that primarily at schools and we start learning when we are about five. We learn just the basics at first but the older we get the more advanced the lessons become. Most have mastered their magic around the age of fifteen. Haruka: A Princess?! *Haruka and Hayate bows* Hayate: It is an honor meeting you, Your Highness. *Looks at Nithara and Ayana* Assassins and spies, huh? I have done a few missions like that in the past, myself. But maybe it is a more specialized line of work where you come from?
Nithara’s ear twitches. Nithara: Are we secretly…what? No. Katsumi: Oh—there’s no need to bow. You’re not of our world—I don’t expect you to treat me like you are. Nithara: You are correct, Hayate—that’s what we are. I’m unsure what you mean by more specialized, though.
Nithara: I mean, I’ve killed several people, but no one I would have to go on the run for. We’re assassins, not serial killers.
Haruka: *to Kasumi* My apologies. It is just that my parents and grandparents taught me to always show proper respect, especially towards those of higher standing. However, since you have given the okay I will treat you as a good friend from now on. Hayate: *also addressing Kasumi* I was raised in a similar manner as Haruka. And given the Lord I serve forgetting once's manners is not advisable. Haruka: With his bad temper I can see how Suzaku would react if anyone didn't show him proper respect. Hayate: Yeah... *addressing Nithara* Well, to clarify... I am not a trained assassin. The times I have been sent on such missions it has been because my magic has been the most appropriate for the situation or another similar reason. From the sounds of it, I suspect that in your world you are more specifically trained to take on missions of that sort. I'm sorry if I'm wrong. It is just a feeling I have got.
Ferelith: Hello there! Yes, I am one of the fae. Makes sense why you've only heard stories of us, we don't appear in the mortal realm very often. Solvi: It's nice to meet you three. ...Are we really that secretive? Ferelith: *to Solvi* You've been hiding from a corrupt society in the middle of Scotland for three years and my kind is literally sworn to secrecy. It's not that surprising. Solvi: Hmm. Good point. Ferelith: Youkai do sound like some faeries and spirits from our world. Ferelith: Oh, and about your other question. My people, the Daoine Sìth, stopped fighting because they were forced to. You see, a few thousand years ago, there was this HUGE war between the Tuatha Dé Danann fae tribes and these mortal invaders from afar. The invaders were masters in foreign magic and weapons, so they absolutely crushed the Tuatha Dé Danann after years of fighting. The invaders ordered the Tuatha Dé Danann to retreat from the mortal realm and never show their faces again. So the fae tribes seperated and made their new homes underground in the spirit realm. Eventually, the original Tuatha Dé Danann disappeared, but their descendants took their place. Now the underground is known as the kingdom of the Daoine Sìth, and it's where I come from! .. *Solvi smiles at Haruka's statement* Solvi: *to Hayate* That's true, it would be useful to know. Unfortunately, I only have guesses as to why they want me back. Maybe they think I'll spill their secrets, maybe they think I'm a powerful asset. Could be anything. Perhaps there is a way to find out, but we'd need a good plan. ... Solvi: Magic is taught as some schools in our world, too. Most of those schools, like the one I went to when I was younger, are entirely devoted to a certain type of magic. I attended one focused on supernatural creatures and the elements. In our world, magic is less like a power and more like a... substance that we learn to manipulate. Some people have a knack for it, and some people can't even figure it out to begin with. Only the supernatural are born with magic in their blood. Ferelith: Solvi may have had to harness magic through training, but I've had magical powers all my life! We could show you guys some of our spells, if you'd like.
Amber: Could you show some too? I haven't seen any magic since the drainage of our powers but if it's okay with you to show us...maybe some complicated magic?
Trailblazer: I don't know who left the world in ruins, But even if I did bring him or her to justice. It won't change a thing. We all have to live with the consequences of our ancestors many years ago. We all have to move forward no matter the odds. Tell me more about your society, I am interested. *Trailblazer looks at his cigarette longingly* Trailblazer: You don't happen to have fire magic? Perhaps a lighter? I could use a quick inhaler.
Ferelith: Oooh, complicated magic! We can do that. Right, Solvi? Solvi: Yeah, let me just make sure I have all my supplies. *She begins rummaging through her bag and pulls out a piece of paper, a pencil, and a stick* Solvi: Hmm... This should do. Ferelith: Wonderful! You can go first, then. *Solvi sits on the floor and quickly draws a symbol on the piece of paper. She then breaks the stick into pieces and places the pieces on the symbol.* *She stands up, holding her staff beside her. Using two fingers, she draws a glowing circle in midair, letting it hover like a halo above the paper.* Solvi: Gairm ort! *Solvi touches the glowing circle, making it splinter apart in a flash of light. The paper beneath it starts to curl up and turn black, before an owl made of smoke appears in its place. The owl takes flight and soars in circles around the room." Ferelith: Eeeh! I love this spell! Solvi: That'll last for about ten minutes on its own. It's good for carrying messages across short distances. Ferelith: My turn! *Ferelith stretches her arms and positions her palms out in front of her. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Slowly, a scene begins materializing in front of her. Bright green grass covers the floor as water seems to fall from nowhere, creating a creekbed full of trickling clear water. A dragonfly appears and lands on a rock next to the stream. The sounds of this tiny landscape fill the air.* *Meanwhile, dark lines begin to appear on Ferelith's palms. The black dots on her face and hands grow in size. What seem to be twigs start growing out of her hair. Finally, she curls her fingers into a claw shape, making the scene instantly fade into mist.* Ferelith: Whew! That's a fun one! *She laughs as the twigs in her hair recede and the dark lines disappear*
Solvi: Here. *She draws another glowing circle above Trailblazer's cigarette. It flashes and splinters apart, making a small flame appear.*
Trailblazer: *Delighted with the sight, he takes a drag but makes sure to steer clear from people nearby*, Thank you! I believe you are Solvi yes? I overheard your conversation with the others. Name is Trailblazer *He extends his hands for a shake keeping the cigarette behind his back*
Solvi: It's a pleasure to meet you, Trailblazer. *She shakes his hand* Yes, I am Solvi, and my companion here is Ferelith. Ferelith: Hello!
Haruka: I know how you feel. The living with the consequences and move forward thing? I don't know if I can even return to Earth. I might never see my family and my friends again. *sighs* Anyway, I'm sorry about your world and hope that the one responsible is brought to justice and that things take a turn for the better for you. Haruka: Those were amazing displays of magic, girls! You are both very talented! Hayate: Indeed they are. Well... I'm not sure this qualifies as complicated but... *He makes a motion with his hand and wind picks up around Haruka, lifting him one foot off the floor. Haruka looks quite concerned as he struggles against the wind.* Haruka: What are you doing?! Let me down! *Hayate makes another motion with his hand and Haruka is lowered back to the ground. Haruka glares at Hayate.* Haruka: That wasn't funny! *Wind then picks up around Hayate instead. He is lifted three feet off the floor. He raises his arms above his head and a tornado as big as a tall human forms above him as his long ponytail is whipped about by the wind. The tornado increases in strength and velocity, giving off an almost eerie howl. The tornado then calms down and eventually disappears. Hayate is slowly lowered to the ground but as his feet touch the floor he loses his balance and falls. He manages to sit up but he is clearly very exhausted. He wipes off the sweat from his forehead with a tired sigh.*
Ferelith: Thank you! I believe that was my best illusion yet. *Ferelith bursts into giggles and fixes her windswept hair* Ferelith: That was so awesome! I haven't seen such powerful air magic in years! Solvi: *adjusts her hat* Now, that was impressive. I wonder if I could create a spell to do that...
Ferelith: I wonder what's going on back in our world right now. Or anyone's worlds, really. Solvi: I'm starting to think that time doesn't actually pass in this place. Things could be exactly the same since the second we teleported... Wait, do you hear that? Ferelith: Hear wha— *A ball of fire appears in front of Solvi and Ferelith, floating in midair. It swirls in place and grows in size, until it become an oval shape as big as Solvi.* *The flames disperse in a small explosion. Standing in their place is a woman with a blue wizard hat and dress embellished with gold and jewels. A glimmering golden badge is pinned to her chest.* ???: *smirks* Found you, Evensen. Solvi: *expression changes from scared to confused* Agnes? How on Earth did you get here?
Amber: Well, we have advanced technology. Ever since our magic has been gone, we started to depend on our tech to make illutions and to do difficult things. But I really wish we had our powers back... just like how it was before. But of course, evil people are uncommon now that magic's gone, they used to perform such dark magic and use it for their personal gain. I suppose now that their powers are gone too, they just gone on a sort of a vacation?
