Hi, I am looking for some feedback regarding a character name. The character is a spoiled, rather disagreeable rich girl (I actually might make her a princess; haven't decided yet). I'm trying to decide between Frustacia and Snipanie; what do y'all think?
Depends on what you're writing. They might work fine in a children's story, yet sound contrived and even silly in something written for older folks. I dislike cutesy, be it in literature or fabric patterns, and Frustacia and Snipanie strike me as self-consciously clever-cutesy.
I agree with @Catriona Grace, unless you are writing children's books, using names to convey personality is kind of odd. Unless it is something like Pilgrims Progress where the names are given to convey meaning but that form of literature has largely gone by the way-side.
Brakkie (brat- Afrikaans) Mudalala (spoiled - Arabic) Kaya (wealthy/rich - Indonesian) Berdoarn (spoiled - Frisian) Dhani (wealthy/rich - Bengali)
First thing that popped in my mind was "Persephone," immediately followed by her rich girl nickname, "Purse." Wish I had the same ability when it comes to my own characters :/
