legit question I believe. I understand fictions popularity overshadows autobiography, but that's no reason NOT to have a specific section for discussing true life stories? Can someone enlighten me perhaps?
cant even chat or submit a post there? Wow. Im not becoming a fan of this very limited site. ANY other free writers forums you can recommend that doesnt requite credits just to chat on the boards? Sorry, Im not happy with this credits system, seems a waste of time.
to be clear the credit system is nothing to do with money - this site is free. You gain credits by giving other members critique... the workshop is like a potluck supper if you want to eat the food you have to bring a plate. You can however you can post threads without credit in any of the other 22 boards - i wouldn't call that limited in answer to your original question we have a critique board for autobiography and memoir which cat posted above - this is where you'd post work for critique... or critique the work of others if you want to chat about the subject however the workshop is not the place for that... I'd recommend the nonfiction sub in the by the genre section... which is where we are now... the reason autiobiography and memoir doesnt have its own sub in this section is a matter of demand and need... there arent very many non fiction threads so there is no need to split them up
I recently did a little piece that is somewhat memoir in format. Not appropriate, perhaps, for the workshop at less than 200 words. I just may post it in this thread.
If there are aspects of memoir writing you wish to discuss, just start a thread. I don't think a more narrow category would help anything. Hopefully, you've got some more interesting ideas to post other than asking where to post.
I doubt the OP will be back, he got a week long ban for some stuff around refusing to give crit and hasn't been seen since
That’s a shame. I loved the pretentious introductory post and was here with popcorn waiting to see who broke for cover and called him out first.
