Sometimes I like to belt into ear-piercing songs when I'm at work. Hey, if they can endure the godawful 'dude bro' country music and like it, well, they can suffer a song or two from me.

My dad is a far better editor than i gave him credit for.

I confess.... whenever i had homework problems or anything related to academics, i always went to my mom. my mom was "academic." my dad was.... not. and admitted to staying back a grade or two. he's made it clear he doesnt believe in higher education. He's not a reader, either (if you dont count sports car magazines)
i never once thought he was "stupid", but i just knew not to go to dad when i had school stuff of academic stuff.

my dad sat with me for an hour today (i just got off the phone with him). he went through my short story line by line, reading it aloud pointing out SPAG errors, giving me suggestions on wording and even pointed out "this sounds funny to me" because i switched tenses in the middle of a paragraph!
Afterward, he said it was fun and wants to do it again.

    :supercry:
I love my dad and i regret that i never shared my writing with him growing up.

It's never too late. And I think it's great that he enjoyed the experience and wants to do it again.

I decided to be bold and brave. I don't know if it'll play out in my favor, but it's made me feel like a powerful person who also wants to puke.

Claire Danes was in Romeo+Juliet. Neve Campbell was in Something Wild.

I don't get them mixed up because if either of them ever worked again, I'm unaware of it :)

Claire Danes was in Terminator 3, and I hadn't seen Neve Campbell for a long time until she popped up in the new series based on The Lincoln Lawyer (which is pretty good).

I just saw her in the latest Scream. (It's just called Scream instead of Scream 5)

I confess I finally decided to ditch my martial arts script for the moment and focus on a regular everyday drama script. Not much writer's block and I couldn't be happier.

Confession: when people start talking about worldbuilding, I look for a direction to run before my eyes roll back in my head and I fall over.

I have a writer friend (not a member here) who is taking the concept far too literally. He's sorting out the tectonic plates and climate systems for the planet his adventure is set on...

I confess that I pay way too much attention to other peoples' SPAG errors. I'll never confuse 'number' and 'amount', and I'll never use cliché as an adjective, but those who do shouldn't bother me as much as they do.

Things like that especially annoy me when they show up in clues for crossword puzzles. I'm currently wading through a Dell Easy Crossword Puzzles book and I don't think there has been a single puzzle in it where I didn't -- at some point -- scream "WHAAAAAAT?!?! That's not right, you moron!"

I try to be good, but often try to use cliche' for humorous effect. An example worthy of a "your first three lines" post.

Chad was furious. Too much information right off the bat? May as well have started with 'it was a dark and stormy night'.

You know when there's a song going around in your head and you can't get it out?

It's happening to me right now. And I must confess, it's Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now".

Oh Jesus. I heard this song so many times in my mother's car as a kid that it's permanently ingrained. I saw the song title here and now a full start to finish rendition of the song is in my head on repeat...

One that sets me off is the use of the words year and anniversary in the same sentence. Month and anniversary? Cringeworthy.

Oh, no, I'm having a flashback–that's the song that gave me covid. I got a ride home from a party with two friends, one of whom was very... let's say happy. She was also in control of the radio, and proceeded to put that song on and belt out some full volume carpool karaoke right into my face (and to people in other cars, leaning out the window and screaming at them. As I said, happy). Two days later, she tested positive for covid. I never had a chance.

Try listening to the Meat Loaf version instead. It's the same song so I'm not sure if it will help but at least maybe hearing someone else sing it may end up with you not being so irritated by the song anymore.
