There was no Emily involved in the founding of the political action committee, Emily's List. EMILY is an acronym for 'Early Money Is Like Yeast'.

Any ‘lectricians in the house? At work today I found a set of LED strip lights which are powered by a cigarette lighter plug. I tested the lights in the work van’s cigarette lighter port and they work perfectly. I’d like to use them for something at home, but need to safely convert the power to either a three-pin plug (or a USB so I can plug it into a phone charger). Is this even possible?

Halfords sell a cool-box adapter that might work for you, but it won't be that cost effective to power foundling set of lights. You might get it cheaper on eBay or the 'zon. no guarantee that it will work though - LEDs are notoriously fussy about voltage.

USB --probably-- won't work. The LEDs won's use a lot of power, but USB is 5V and very low power ; if you step the voltage up you will step the power further down

one more alternative might be a small 12V battery? You can get them quite cheaply for powering mobility scooters etc. I bought one for testing 12v stuff for the boat and camper. It should last for days without a charge powering LEDs, and you could then string your lights up anywhere you wanted (within reason - I assume they're not waterproof?)

I remember that match. It was exhausting even for spectators. Thank goodness they changed the rules at Wimbledon!

Internationally, 57.88 percent of all internet traffic is consumed on mobile devices (phones and tablets). In the US, it's 50.73 percent. [Seems low.]

Depends if it includes all the business data sent from everyone working at a desk in America, which I assume it does.

Really hard to get clear numbers. Largest number of internet users are China, India then USA. The largest consumed traffic on a mobile device is China then India again. It cannot separate Business and personal use.

I’d imagine attacking a country’s cyber connectivity is of higher priority then any other way of damaging that Government’s presence.

Wife came home from a business trip, a bit tired and needing a bit of cheering up. So I said, "Guess what? Our AARP cards came today." Didn't seem to help.

If anyone can explain the popularity (or the existence) of the various Real Housewives television shows, I'd be grateful.

There's a certain audience that finds drunk, obnoxiois, caddy "women" wildly entertaining. If some can explain why that is, I would be equally grateful.

    Thanks, @Hammer

I don’t actually have a use for them, but I found a 240v to 12v converter on Amazon for £9. I can always buy that if I ever find a use for them.

Why are butterflies said to be graceful? Whoever said it never watched them fly.

Haha, yeah. They are kind of janky. But when they're sitting there they look pretty graceful.

Anyone know the name of the somber piece playing in this film around the 4:25 mark?

Yes, thank you! I checked about six different ‘soundtrack’ listings for this film, and none of them had this piece (I’m guessing because it’s considered ‘incidental’ music and not part of the official soundtrack).

In 1838, Edgar Allan Poe’s only novel, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, was published. In one episode, a ship is lost at sea, and a young cabin boy named Richard Parker is murdered and eaten by his fellow sailors to stave off hunger.

In 1884, the Mignonette set sail from England bound for Australia. The ship sank in a storm and three of the four men aboard ended up killing and eating the fourth man, also a cabin boy, one Richard Parker. Two of the three were tried and convicted of murder and cannibalism and served six months in prison.
