    Question about writing progressions

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by Moose06, Mar 30, 2023.

I write as a hobby, but recently I've seen some of my crappy habits shine through.

I have 11 incomplete books. all of them are almost completely planned out.

8 of them are part of a series together, and 3 of them are single books.

I'm super excited to see the series come together and the whole story line work together written out.

At the same time I am super excited about two out of my three single books (One of them just isnt planned out enough)

So... Should I write one of the two single ones? or start working on the series.

Also is it healthy for the story structure and style if I work on more than one book at once.

One important thing before answering is that all the books in the series have different styles tones and narration styles

    Thanks for the help!

clearly a version of me that slipped forward through a rip in the space time continuum :D ... this is near exactly where i was in 2016 - you need to pick one and finish it, then another and so on

Generally, I work on one project at a time. Any ideas for other projects get somewhere between a sentence and a paragraph in a future projects file.

Spread your focus too thin and your work suffers for it. For a series with book one still in process, the only planning I personally would do. Is any plot elements that cross multiple books, or anything from a later book that needs foreshadowing.
