    Tomorrow night!!

I am leaving in about a half an hour to go with my friends to pitch a tent outside barnes and nobles. we are camping out for wristbands so we can be the first and second people to get the books!

Oh, and as for a song for the two i would say Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls

    Edward:
(makes me think of the parts where he sleeps in her room and holds her all night)
And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

    Both:
And I don't want the world to see me
    Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I am starting to get all excited and jittery. You can bet i will be the first person in Boise reading that book!

So, if you haven't already decided to go with Barnes and Noble, go with someone else.

They decided to completely ignore the number of copies people reserved and instead just put each person down as having reserved one, claiming that they *didn't have enough copies for everyone to be reserving a lot*. So why didn't they tell me when I was reserving them? And why are they still giving out the wristbands to people who didn't? I only reserved two, one for me and one for my best friend who loves the books even more than I do. Now she gets the first wristband, and I get the first wristband after all the other people who are lucky enough to get the one copy they let them reserve.

They have lost my respect and possibly lost me as a future customer. I spent over 14 hours camping out for the wristband, and then they denied them to me and many other customers.

I hope they don't do this to you, too.

I think Borders is doing something like that too. Me and two of my friends are flipping out waiting to go to get our books at midnight, but I don't want to go to the party (they want you to dress up, there's some trivia thing, and the debate over who is best for Bella, Jacob or Edward) I just want my book @ midnight. But one of my friends said something about wrist bands. I want my book, I've been waiting long enough, and if I don't get it tonight...I might die.

How do you dress up as Twilight characters? I thought they just wore normal people clothes.

Man, I thought the whole 'midnight Boarders Twilight-party' was next weekend. I was gonna go trolling with my friend, but neither of us can do it tonight :( Guess we'll have to wait for the Twilight movie...

Speaking of which, why do I have the feeling they're gonna cut out Eric? He's my favorite character, even if he's only there to show that Bella doesn't like nerds. Poor Eric.

Read it. Hated it. (Just an opinion.)

From a literary point of view, the book is full of flaws. While it's a easy read, I couldn't stand the meaningless use of mythical creatures and the typical teen romance cliches. Angst. Angst. Angst. The same details are pounded into the readers over and over again. To be honest, I was seriously rolling my eyes throughout the book. Didn't read New Moon and Eclipse. I don't plan on it either.

If you like it, you like it. Nothing wrong with that. But as a writer myself, I can't see much good in it. It seems more like a tool for money-making purposes more than it does a work of literary genius.

Oh my god! I hit my personal Record by reading Twilight in not even three days. Seriously, I star5ted Thursday at Ten O'clock at night, stopping only to go to bed half past Midnight, I was already a quarter into it. I woke up earlier then expected the next morning, at about eight thirty, and spent all day reading, (What a first!), stopping only for Lunch, Dinner and my one hour Soap Oprah. I finnished it this morning. So yeah, a little more then Twenty Four Hours total.

So yeah, just for the record it's the BEST. I got hooked at the Prologue and I was actually sad to end. Now I have to wait about a week before reading New Moon because the Library is probably closed until then. So sad, but i'll have to occupy myself with something else and hope for the best. I don't know how long I can go without the Edward/Bella Romance. :)

If you don't feel you can go on without it, go pick up any other teen romance. ^^ It's the same thing.

It was absolutely horrendous. What was SM thinking?! I was one of the squealing girls in Barnes and Nobles and started as soon I got my copy but definitely had to STOP for a while. I thought..it was a joke. Honestly, she tried to hard to make everyone happy that the characters were just robotic and lifeless.

Stephanie Meyers powerful storytelling ability was absent and everything just seem to happen on its own..randomly...ugh, what a disappointment.

Yeah, this series needs to lose the hype in a bad way. I kept hearing about it endlessly and then I picked up the first one. The lack of any real skill is infuriating. Come on people, read something that actually is decent; not a joke.

I camped out to be the first to get the copy here in boise, and i kinda wish i hadn't.

She seemed to ramble. Her usual plot control had its brake cables cut and she just seemed to take everything that popped into her head and write it down. It seemed very rushed and poorly thrown together, like the lettuce on a McChicken.

I would probably give it a 4.5 out of ten...

So, how many books have you written? You sound like you're pretty smart, you must be one heck of a writer. You have to be if you can see her lack of skill and get annoyed by it and think it's a joke.

I'd like to see you try.

Breaking Dawn surprised me on many levels (I wont give anything away for the people who actually like these books, because if any of you haven't noticed, THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE THAT!). I was very different from the rest of the books, but I don't know if that's just because I've been waiting for so long. I wasn't very happy until half way through (and that took me all night to get through), and then it was the best. I didn't expect anything that happened, but I sorta liked it anyway.

It did mess me up for a while. I went and got it at midnight and read all day until 11 pm that night (not non-stop). I forgot to eat lunch and dinner and it seemed like when I bought the book was so far away when in reality I finished it all in the same day. It was sorta crazy. But it was worth it to me.

Alright Alex, I never insulted you so don't go off like that. As for your "one heck of a writer comment," I am nearing finishing my first novel so we'll see it goes once I finish it. I am no where near any status that this over-blown writer has made, but time shall tell.

By the way hun, it doesn't take a lot of knowledge to identify when something is lacking. But it's all relative to whether that's the kind of book you would want to read or not. I personally thought it was pretty funny, but others really like it. An opinion's an opinion and there will always be detractors from a series....always.

And yet I still maintain that this series is quite lame haha =]

Alright then, so do you have to go onto a thread about a book that people really happen to love and say those kinds of things about the author when some of us envy her and find a ton of motivation in her writing? There are some things I wouldn't have if it wasn't for these books.

Hey now, do I have to separate you two?

All your fancy intellectual talk lost me, Steve, but I get that you don't like Twilight. Neither do I. I know that I can at least write with more voice than SM (I hope that doesn't sound too snobby - it's just that people tell me they like my "writing voice" a lot!), but I'm not gonna bash her until I've actually written something.

And if you think about it, it's a good thing that the Twilight series is so popular. If all these squealing fangirls think SM is "so cool", think about how they'll react when they read your stuff (if it's really that much better than hers. Which is probably is. No offense, Twilighters). If they think Twilight is amazing, then they'll think your novel is SUPER AMAZING in comparison.

So all us writers need Stephenie Meyer, so, um, don't bash her too hard!

And Alex, he was just giving his opinion, even if it sounded a little harsh. Like he said, "there will always be detractors from a series", which I think means there'll always be things in a series that someone doesn't like. Um, right? (I have a feeling I sounded like an idiot just now)

Blargh. It sucks trying to stop an argument when you have the IQ of a potato.

It's popular because of the subject. Vampire/human/teen romance. It's a money-making topic, but it isn't original. There's nothing amazing about it in my opinion, and I don't care for her style of writing, especially some of the back and forth dialogue. That's just lazy. :p

But again, that's my opinion. It's more a preference for me. I don't want to sound arrogant, but I do prefer my own style.

I'm sorry I guess, I thought this thread was asking for opinions of the series. Maybe I was a smidge out of line, but I always find debates a little fun. I'm not out to persuade, just to express my opinion; and perhaps troll a little for fun debate people such as yourself haha =]

Also I honestly didn't think of the "prompting teen writers to come out of their shells" thing, good job. Maybe this series works towards it, maybe not. Props to it though if it does!

Speaking of inspiring young, teenage girls, I highly doubt that Breaking Dawn gave any sort of inspiration to teens. The morals that Bella held through the series were commendable. For instance, despite Edwards refusal to let her meet Jacob, she showed resilience and met him anyway..

Also, Bella came across as strong and very sure of her love for Edward whereas I saw Edward struggle over his feelings for Bella. However, Breaking Dawn completely ruined this aspect of Bella's personality. SM turned her into a Mary-Sue and in the end, she set such a bad example for teens everywhere. I wont' got into details but honestly, who here thought Bella was inspirational in BD?

Steve, it's fine. I'm sorry I flipped out on you. Debates are fun =D

Also, I have to say there are some things a little messed up with some of the writing. Even some of the characters. Like Bella isn't the most realistic. Most teenagers don't cook chicken enchiladas for dinner. But I mean, look at Stephenie Meyer. She was just a normal stay at home mom with three kids until one day she had a dream about what is now Twilight. It was just sorta something that happened. She started writing about her dream but then she just started adding more until she had a book.
Before any of that she wasn't writing all of the time.

And I agree Breaking Dawn was a little messed up. She also had to make it end so everyone was happy, which doesn't always happen. But I think that's just Stephenie Meyer.

Hey I'm a teenager and I've cooked chicken enchiladas for dinner before, haha.
To be honest, I loved the entire series, including Breaking Dawn, and I'm just waiting for Midnight Sun. The first chapter of Midnight Sun was ridiculously intriguing. I would suggest everyone to read it.

And can you guys please stop verbally abusing eachother via the internet. Haha, well you don't have to stop if you don't want, it is slightly amusing. I just find it silly, either you like it or you don't, give your reason and that's it. It's your opinion.
