Why I am here: Like other devotees of the written word I need a place to practice...throw out ideas and see if they are acceptable (and how to salvage them). Although very new to this site I find everyone very friendly and helpful....doesn't hurt that there are more than a few familiar names from another site that seems to have disappeared? (cue in the Twilight Zone music).
I joined here cause there are a great bunch of writers here and it is the friendliest forum I have come across, everywhere else i have gone the mebers have been quite rude in some of the posts I have seen with new members work. So I thought I would come here and have found that everyone is friendly and helpful so I will be sticking around.
I have a dual citizenship with writingforums.org and literarymary.com, so to speak, until WF.com comes back online. (My preciouses)
Well, I joined because I wanted to find a place where I would receive honest feedback so that I could hone my craft.
it's one of several writers' sites i monitor daily, to offer help/advice/info where-/whenever needed/wanted... sadly, wf.com seems to be out of commission, again...
I came here because as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be able to write well. I'm fairly adept at technical writing, but have never pushed myself enough to work on my fiction. I don't see myself pushing ahead without being around others who are also striving to improve their craft. And I also know I'll never learn much from self-criticism, any more that I could lovemaking by - well, you get the picture. The notion of the solitary writer mastering the art of writing just by laying down thousand of pages is nonsense. As in any other endeavor, feedback is essential, as well as a willingness to set aside one's ego and listen to what others have to sayt about your efforts.
I joined up because a forum because I wanted advice on my writing, improve it and learn new things. I joined this place because everyone was very cordial here, and compared to other forums this place is fast.
I joined because I want to be a novelist and book editor, and I want to improve my skill. It's also nice to have an intelligent conversation, not OmG LiKe HoW R u!?!?! Plus, everyone's totally friendly here.
I was bored. Hey, don’t look at me like that; I’m just being honest… For what it’s worth, I’m not bored anymore.
hey, i just noticed this thread, lol. 1.) because it rbought it up in a google search nearly a year ago and decided what the heck, get a backbone and post some of your work, see what people really think. 2.) i actuallu joined about four, lol. for a while i preffer one called writingforums.com, it seemed more active. but they were a bit rude over there and quite often your work was missed and i just started using this one more. now i nver visit the other one, it doesn't feel like a community anymore, unlike here. Heather
That's exactly what I think, Heather. WF.com is very...impersonal. Here everyone knows me as the resident nut
1) I wanted to improve my writing. 2) Because this one was the easiest to understand on Google, and in itself, though it was still confusing at first. I think the new layout has seen to that problem though.
I joined because I wanted someone other than my husband and sister editing my writing, lol. They are awesome, but they got tired of me asking pretty quick. I joined this forum because I just happened to come upon it through a search engine and I really liked the people and what they were saying. I think everyone is very honest and nice here
The environment is much better here then at wf.com. I joined there first, but realized I didn't like it pretty fast. I came here and the people were just so much better. iwf.org
1) So I could improve my writing and get opinions from other writers. 2) In all honesty, when I googled writers forums, this was the first one I saw. So, I checked it out and decided I liked it.
1) To share and learn 2) I did the WF.com but like it was mentioned by others I dindn't like the impersonal, rude and cold attitude over there.
i figure'd it was time to write this novel thats been running through my head, and im defently going to need assistance to make it happen. and the second part, because this was the first one to come up on the search engine. jim
One simple reason, this place looked friendly and on another (i'll leave out the name of it) writing forum they where very unfriendly and where betten as children... some 69 year old was saying things like 'You will never work in the writing world, you are hopeless' to a 14 year old! So I come here instead... already, i'm glad.
(Don't think I've answered this yet..) Why? Because I felt like joining a forum that actually had a point. (For once in my life). Second reason? I like community based places, while WF has quite a few members, there's still this.. close feel I guess? Yeah. Too many people annoy and frustrate me. : )
i joined because i'm struggling with writing good essays and maybe the people here can help me get better than a C on my essays.
