1. I haven't figured that out yet. I would like to know! 2. If I don't write, I feel guilty. So I write enough to feel like I've furthered the story, even if it's only a tiny bit. 3. Boredom. I can't just journal my day, and I could never write "Murder is for Vets", or whatever. I need to excite myself by my writing. Yes, it is a problem. It means I get less done. 4. I only decided I liked writing after I noticed that others liked my writing. In grade school, I was very meticulous with words and sentences. Every sentence had to fit in with every other sentence. My teachers noticed, and I suddenly realized I enjoyed doing it. I love, and dread, an audience. 5. At the moment, I think my story is magical realism. But, I'm really interested in characters. I tend to think of characters first, and build their stories second. So, if my main character turns out to be an orphaned elf with a penchant for nymphs, I guess I'm writing erotic fantasy!
Nothing compells me, i just love to. i write because, it's the only way i can let out all the emotions i'm feeling in one huge burst. This urge when i'm doing somthing else and i have a idea that i could work on when i did a 'creative story' for english corse work and my teacher liked it. (still cant spell though) humour (badly) and gothic style-ish.
Because there are sooooo many other tales to tell. Sure, there are the four or five main themes that everyone, since Shakespeare (and before) to Dan Brown tries to tackle, lending their own distinctive styles and voices. But, for each good writer, there are too many bad writers and bad books, drafting off the wind of other, more successful works. After a while, it all sounds the same. I'm searching for all the stories in between, both as a reader and a writer. I want to read about stories that don't sound like prequels and sequels to some Hollywood hit factory machine. I'd like to see language elevated beyond digital short hand and pop culture fast food. Anyway, that's why I write.
Because I want to say something lasting and worthwhile. I want to give enrichment and beauty to other people's lives, like my favorite authors have given to me.
Decided to redo my version. Because I think have talent, and because I like it. Write mostly fiction, I feel like writing crime without the cheap feel most of the crime novels I've read has had to them.
To add to my previous entry, which is still completely accurate, I write because I want to be the next Garth Marenghi. Or at least George R. R. Martin.
Don't be George. Please! He makes me read 3 books and then kills off all the reasons I had for reading them. What a jerk :S
I write because I write because it is better than just daydreaming all the time. I am compelled to write when an idea crosses my mind that I just have to get out or when I feel like creating an imaginary world more exciting than the one I inhabit. I discovered I enjoyed writing in 3rd grade when we had to create a character and write a story about them. I remember I named the character Les Little and I think he was made fun of for his height, but I can't really remember too much more about it other than I knew had done well and I loved what I wrote. Sometime after that I started writing on my own. My only problem now is that I can't seem to keep myself from writing romance novels . . . I guess I'm okay with that, but only if they are better than the romance novels that I have read where there are ridiculous misunderstandings that would never happen and things of that sort. I want them to be believe able and possible and sometimes even funny . . .
I write because when i write i feel good and it is a great way to express myself and pass my time usefully. I like my stories although i dont planto be a proffesional writer. For many years i have been reading books and always wishing things had gone this or the other way when i decided that if i want something the way i think it then I should do it. I did and it went well. I was inspired by some guys on a forum that write stories and i said i'd give it a shot.
I write because i have to. Because if i don't i will explode. My head is constantly buzzing with scenes and characters and ideas and costumes etc... And i know that if i do not write them down i will forget them. or remember that i had a really good idea and then become frustrated that i can't remember what that idea was. This happens most often at night. Thats why i have perfected the skill of writing in the dark. i never have to turn on a lamp and my bed is big enough that i can stick paper and a pen (preferably with the cap on. you have no idea how many ink marks i have on my bed sheets) in the corner. I love to write Fantasy and paranormal stories. (Not to be confused with horror! i like more the Paranormal Romance genre) What made me decide to be a writer was the Harry Potter Series. Because of my Dyslexia as a young child i hated reading. I used to get so frustrated when my parents tried to make me read and then i couldn't even get two words out in a row without them correcting me. but then one summer my parents took me up to the cottage for the first time where i had no TV i could only go on the computer at night, and we were a good mile from the nearest town. ( plus everyone in town only spoke french so there was no possiblity of me making friends) Believe me i was bord out of my skull!!!! My mom worked during the day and decided to start reading me the Harry Potter series at night. ( this was way back when the fourth book had just come out). Anyway long story short. By the time we got onto the fourth book i didn't want to wait for her. So i opened up the book and read it until the end. And that was when i knew that i wanted to be a writer. well actually it went more like "wow i didn't know books could be fun to read!" lol The thing is i believe that i was born to be a writer i just never clued in until that moment. All my life i have drawn. I was drawing before i could write. but i never just drew. I invented people with childhoods and futures. i invented creature and mystical lands. I was write or rather drawning stories. I write because i have people in my head and their stories are just too good to keep to my self.
I write because I enjoy it. Its one of the few things in this world I seem to truly love doing. Its fun creating characters, fun planning a new plot for the characters. I also write some fanfiction. Which is fun because I get to ask the What Ifs. So simply, I like to write because I love it.
I write when I want to get something outta my system ...or I take to writing when there is something really beautiful in idea that is haunting me and I am kind of finding out words to explain it...when they come, then I write
What compells you to write? What compelles me to write is the the constant thoughts and ideas I have give me the obsession to constantly write. Why do you write? To make my head a little clearer from the racing thoughts that are contantly entering my brain What makes you write what you write? What makes me write is the thoughts i feel need to be out one paper What Made you decide you liked to write? Actually up until 5th grade I hated writing to get me to right a hole paragraph was hard work. But then in 5th grade which I never for get my teacher gave a promped we had to finish the story and had to be at least a page, and I ended up writing 15 pages, thats when I realized that I love writing, and realized that when I need to get feelings out, cause I am not one to talk about them i write them down in a journal What Do You Write? I write all kinds of things. In simple terms I write what ever comes to my mind.
What compels you to write? The voice's in my head that refuse to quieten down. Why do you write? Originally I wrote as a form of escapism while I was being bullied. Eventually escalating to the point where it was the only thing keeping me sane after becoming ill for six months. But now that that is all in the past, it's simply a hobby for me. What makes you write what you write? Negative experiences, musical influence, and the need to express views that no one will sit down long enough to hear me out on. What made you decide you liked to write? When I realised that there really are no limitations on what you can write. What do you write? Novels ranging between 50,000-170,000 words. Most often focused on a man (aged 15-25) who feels distant from the society he lives in.
What compels you to write? I am compelled to translate what my senses observe. I am compelled to describe the connection we all have with our surroundings. I am compelled to interpret my internal thoughts and emotions. These are what compel me to write. Why do you write? A blank page is a good friend. It listens...to everyone. What makes you write what you write? The human mind. All our thoughts a generated by our mind. Our ability to read and write, stems from the mind. The mind is so powerful and deep. The words on this page wont change after I've typed them, but they will become something different to others who read them. That's the mind. Our brilliant mind. What Made you decide you liked to write? My mind is a bustling city full of different roads, paths, sights and sounds. Writing was the only way to bring that city to life. The blank page is infinite, you can write forever and still have room to write for another lifetime. I can express myself through writing, without exposing who I am. What Do You Write? At the moment I'm writing books for children. Children fascinate me. Even though they have unlimited potential and imagination, the way they think is very simple and basic. Combining these two elements in writing is a real challenge. But I love it. __________________
What compells you to write? The basic need to express myself, as well as the fact that I want to express the worlds I have created. Why do you write? Perhaps this is a bit arrogant, but I like being kind of godlike. I can not only experience many different things, but I can also play around and experiment with them, and see what could happen, what could not, and whether it's good or bad. Kind of reason why I also enjoy conworlding and conlanging. What makes you write what you write? I love history, and a lot of my earliest works were (technically) historical fiction. However, I've come to realized I just really enjoyed the experience of being in a different world, different than at least the American surburbia I'm too used to. That's why I liked the idea of writing fantasy - not magic and dragons and elves no, but the fact that there was an entire world, an entire history that I could create. The only thing more enjoyable - and perhaps dangerous - than reading and learning history is making it yourself. What Made you decide you liked to write? Not only did I enjoy the experience of making new worlds, but I hated reading. To be more exact, I hated what the English cirriculum at my school was pounding up my face - the stereotypical Newbury Medal book, with some kid and some social issue and some mentor/friend/dog of that kid dying, and how that kid has to "grow up". I hated it. I wanted to do something better than just read boring books and writing essays I didn't care about. What Do You Write? I'll call it fantasy, but that convokes images of magic and dragons, which is not what fantasy is all about - the term 'Speculative Fiction' would be much better here. A lot of my ideas are what I call "Future History", or maybe "Fantasy Science Fiction", because there isn't a lot about science fiction in them, and they are more like historical fiction to me. A number of my writings also are more of the traditional fantasy (except without the magic and magical species), dealing with my own worlds. And at least one novel (my favorite idea) is technically post-apocalyptic fiction, but it has more elements of comedy and romantic comedy anime.
1.What compells you to write? My frustration 2.Why do you write? To get out all the anger and just because I like to write 3.What makes you write what you write? Well lets just say I have weird inspirations 4.What Made you decide you liked to write? When I was going into 8th grade, I got angry and I had no clue how to release my anger, so I started writing 5.What Do You Write? Odd, slightly disturbing, morbid stories
What compels you to write? - Wanting a lifestyle that's more acceptable to me. I hate the nine to five slog. Why do you write? - Because it's easier than running a business (lol) What makes you write what you write? - My imagination What Made you decide you liked to write? - This makes no sense. You don't decide to like anything. You just know it or you don't. What Do You Write? - Nothing published yet. I used to do poetry - which I did get a couple things published. I wrote lots of short stories and beginnings to novels, but never finished anything. I decided to get serious and I'm writing my first novel.
music, situation, feelings, colors. For me the list is just endless. Anything from a grasshopper to water in the glass could trigger off my pen's ink
Compels - being bored, frustration, day dreaming ideas. I started writing in college when I took a creative writing course to make up missing credits (the class drew me in and I was hooked). I write for the feeling of having made something or the thought of having something that wasn't there come alive before my eye's. I write the things I write about because those are the things that interest me and hopefully someone else has some twisted sick interest in what I write about that they would like to read it too. I write short stories, journals of my past experiences growing up and living, fantasy, thriller, sci-fi.
What compels you to write? Besides the fact I enjoy it, the thing that compels me is the need to express myself and the escape it provides. Why do you write? Writing feels right. If I don't do it, I feel somewhat out of place. Why do I write? The answer would be because it helps me escape, be creative, create something I may be proud of, gives me pleasure and allows me to express myself freely. (May I add that 1 and 2 are too closely together in the line of questioning. Well, in my opinion, anyway.) What makes you write what you write? What better escape is there than to indulge yourself in a good story? Diving head first into the pool of creativity and originality is a refreshing experience. What made you decide you liked to write? What makes a person any person decide they enjoy doing something? They enjoy it! What Do You Write? Fantasy and a bit of horror. Also, I enjoy a bit of sci-fi.
I actually think that a couple of my works will speak about my personal experience - an attempt to pass on lessons I have learned. And I want to promote some political ideas I have. For instance, the premise of one novel I have planned is based on the ancient Greek model of democracy, where every citizen got one vote for any issue. A Pure Democracy. I want to write a novel about a city/state which does this in modern times.
LIfe my answer to all your questions is simply life Life is a funky little winker bean that demands to be written about. Some of us dare to some of us care to and some of us are simply there to But not many of us dare to, care to, and are there to enough to be the ones readers call the rare few
Why wouldn't someone write? Writing is absolute control over the world you live in, what people you surround yourself with, what moods you want to feel. It adds spice to your life, that you may not be able to find any other way. Whereas real life can be limiting in what you can do, your book is your world. A world that follows whatever laws you can dream up. What compels me to write? The unwritten story in my head. The world I would like to immerse myself in, if only for a part of my day. What made me decide I liked to write.. The act of writing itself. I never cared for writing until I started doing it to create my story. Now it seems natural. Also, whenever I see those beautiful printed journals, they inspired me. Never could figure out what to put in them until I started writing, but they were still inspiring all the same. What do I write. Fiction. Fantasy. Poems about my book. Though unpublished, I don't care if I get published or not - I just do it for me.
