See, I wouldn't class those as horror. They're more gore-fest, which is a bit of a turn-off to me. But each to their own. V for Vendetta is a good film. I really liked it the first time I saw it. But actually, after reading the graphic novel, I realised how much better it could have been. It was softened so much, in the movie, and...well, Americanised... My hopes for that film are so low, that I'm going to wait until it's shown on TV. The Terminator franchise really needs to be allowed to die, after T3. Last night I watched Silent Hill and Dreamcatcher. Silent Hill was good, actually very good. But it could never live up to the complete terror of the game Silent Hill 2. Oh, and there was absolutely no reason for Sean Bean to be doing any of the crap he did in the film. Or for him to use that ridiculous American accent. Or for Pyramid Head to feature in the film. Dreamcatcher was very good. I was really impressed with it, and would recommend it. My favourite moves are probably Night Watch (a fantastic, Russian, weird, modern-day, fantasy/horror film), Serenity (how sci-fi is supposed to be), the 51st State (hilarious, and Robert Carlyle is brilliant as ever) and Phone Booth (what happens when Jack Bauer has had enough and goes kill-crazy). There's a whole load more films I love, obviously, but that'll do as a brief list
Strike that, T3 needs to be allowed to die. As for Salvation, ****in' A, man. ****in' A. A very, VERY good film. The best thing is, it's a departure from the whole "Oh noes, a robot has come back in time to kill John Connor! What shall we do?" theme. Now, it's actually getting down to the nitty gritty of fighting Skynet. And, it's not like all of humanity is exactly united against the robot menace, oh no. Arnie is in it, but his role is very... unsubstantial. He's only in it (acting-wise) for about two minutes, but he plays a very key role in the plot. I think this franchise may still have some life in it yet. Although Christian Bale's not exactly the best choice for John Connor, but hey, he plays it well.
I tried to watch that once and couldn't even make it through a half hour. Horrible movie. And I like T3 better than Salvation.
I thought that T3 was just T2 with racing stripes, really. At least this film takes it in a different direction.
Yeah, but it was also kind of blandish and didn't even feel like a Terminator movie half the time. It was too dark and I didn't find myself really caring what happened to anybody. There were some good moments but overall I probably wouldn't buy this movie unless it was a part of a set with the other three.
Yeah I think Christian Bale was a mistake because he seemed really cold and unlikable. But I found Marcus Wright to be a very good character.
A lot of the other characters weren't even developed enough to really matter, too. And the Marcus Wright character was good in theory but the actor kept striking me as mismatched for the role. Like he should have been in some romantic comedy instead, or even a more minor character in the same movie. He was a good actor, but just seemed kind of awkward in the role.
I went to see Angels and Demons tonight. It was pretty funny, I got exactly what I went for. I kept expecting Tom Hanks to introduce his character as having a PhD in Illuminati.
I know right? That movie was summer entertainment, not a Da Vinci code sequel. And my all time favorite film is the 2008 movie 'Defiance'.
