When authors make new names and titles for things that exist. I read a book once that the author seriously choose to make a new name for mom and dad. I didn't know that the main character was talking to her parents until around halfway because I just didn't believe someone would try to make a new word for that and I just assumed they were something else.

I like it when I'm thrown into the action at the start as long as I can follow whats going on. Ex. Trincety threw his garblefoble at the tenkiten and watched as its blood showered over the ativekitenes. Introduce these things later so I'm not overwhelmed.

    I hate novels that...

Finish this: I hate novels that....

For me it is: I hate novels that take themselves seriously when their subject is really not serious. For example, fantasy stories with unicorns and fairys really can't have THAT much suspense and horror. That's just for me though, what about you?
