I am certain the answer is not nearly as disgusting as what I think, but what in the world did you clean off of it? Do I even want to know?!

I loved your job descriptions. I too have fit many varied types of jobs into life, coolest was driving new foreigh cars from one parking lot to another. The worst, straightening out the fabric bolts in KMart, it drove me crazy because everytime I would get them all straight, someone who come and want some fabric, heaven forbid, and then I would have to start all over again.

I'm a full-time student finishing up her final year of high school and preparing for her college life and beyond, which is pretty much a full-time job all on it's own! (Senioritis? What senioritis? There's barely enough time in the day!)

I am the caretaker of dogs, of gardens, and homes. I am a budding journalist and graphic designer. I tutor young kids in biology and chemistry and sometimes volunteer in a hospital setting. I work part-time for my neighbor, doing anything from secretarial work to putting together slideshows for her son's wedding. I am also a part-time horseback riding competitor.

I've only held down one 'real' job as a waitress, which everyone needs to do at some point in his / her life. Then you'll understand how insignificant your request for ketchup truly is. ;)

Jack of all trades, master of none. Yet. :)

I'm an administrative assistant working for the president of a small private financial advisory firm. I've been a secretary for years and have passed up opportunities to move up the corporate ladder. I like being the behind-the-scenes go to person.

The only problem I have with my job at the moment is that it requires next to no imagination/creativity.

I'm also a mom (three at home) and a part-time student going for a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Trying to convince my better half to let me take the Spring semester off so I can make a more concerted effort at writing.

I spent 10 years in Automotive and Aerospace Component Design, and I like to think I can still write creatively, in spite of the cubicle zombies trying to beat it out of me!!!

    What industry are you in?

I think this is different, but now and then I audit a call that is through a translator, usually for someone who is deaf, and the interpreter is using a video phone to hand-sign, then interpret orally over the phone. Much of what I'm auditing is the customer's mood and reaction and emotions, so most of that is understandably lost when there is this extra loop in the call. But the techs do handle it well.

I'm a door to door saleswoman....of sorts. I don't technically cell anything. I'm an official canvasser for DCF which deals with non-profit companies. Our three main clients are Sick Kids Foundation, World Vision, and Foster Parents Plan (Plan Cananda). I myself am on the SKF campaign.

Basically, I go door to door to convince people to make monthly contributions to the foundation. I save lives every day (indirectly of course.) :)

I study at Middlesex University full-time, doing an undergraduate in English Literature and Creative writing.
I'm enjoying it immensely and I couldn't care less if anybody thinks my degree is worthless :)

I was a hotel maid before I left for uni. I miss the money but not the cleaning! D:

I'm an instructional assistant with the special education department at a middle school.

I'm also completing an English Language program this semester, which will allow me to enter a credentialing program next fall. Though I currently love my job, I'm eager to move forward and become a teacher myself.

I am a full-time stay at home mother of 3, I do the same job as a housewife, though I'm not married as yet, and I also help care for my mother with a terminal illness and cleaner at her house. Very exhausting and rewarding jobs. Doesn't allow for much free time though. Only free time I get is when I sit down and feed my 2 week old...

I work in a call centre for a phone and broadband company. It kills my soul a little bit every day, & I have no idea how I've survived three years here.
Basically - when someones in a bad mood & wants somebody to be able to shout at, I'm your gal. It used to be okay because we'd have time between calls to do what we want - read, puzzles, etc, but now we have queues all day long & the managers actually time how long we take if we need the toilet.

If anybody would like to offer me a job, please do :) haha. Otherwise I may well go insane. Although I guess theres been a lot of successful crazy people, may give me an advantage lol.

Sounds like you have at least three jobs on the go at once, Tor! Hope the other kids can help you out sometimes. I found my second baby easier because the older sister used to keep her amused a bit.

Well, it involves camoflouge, 30 lbs of equipment, a weapon, hunting for bad dudes and (God forbid), me patching someone up.

I work at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. It's in Scranton, maybe you've heard of us?

    :D

No, I work for Tecre. It's a pin factory, actually. Yes, it makes pins. Like election buttons and all that jazz. Pays a lot too, you wouldn't believe. Depending on how many pins you do you can take home $400 every other week.

    What's Your Day Job?

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not making millions of dollars from writing, and I'm curious about what you all do to pay the bills. I always enjoy reading the list of jobs that professional authors have held before 'making it big' so I'm going to do the same here:

    Past Jobs:
    Worked in a Chinese takeaway
Delivered pizza (Pizza Hut, Pizza Haven, and some other privately owned one that I can't remember the name of - did it start with a 'G'?)
    Receptionist/office slave
    Child Care assistant
Prepped salads at a catering company for Qantas
Office work at the Church of Scientology (no, I am not a Scientologist, nor was I ever, but I did get to meet a LOT of hypocrites)
    Avon rep
    Worked at The Body Shop
Sold hundreds or maybe thousands of books on eBay
    Domestic Cleaner
    I think that's all . . .

    Current:
I own a domestic cleaning agency, but this stupid bipolar disorder makes it hard even for me to run my nice little home-based business so I'm currently paying someone else to do it (from their home.)
And, when my brain isn't too broken, I volunteer twice a year at the local Lifeline Bookfest, a huge biannual sale of secondhand books (I do my shopping while I'm unpacking books, hehehe.)

    Future:
'Make it big' as an author ;)

Past? Technical Writer for web development company.

    Current? Full-time college student.

Future? Ask me in the future.

Consulting engineer, mostly doing systems integration and software for electromechanical systems. That's a bunch of big words that mean I program computers that make machines move.
