None of my dreams ever make any sense whatsoever. Well, there are the few of them that would be hard to distinguish as dreams themselves without having woken up, but I can't believe my subconscious can trick me into not realizing I'm dreaming even with completely irrational and surreal dream sequences.

For example, I had some odd dream a few days ago where I was Neo and I was fighting Morpheus in some kind of double-binary star system, that within the center resided a super market where some family members were.

In my dream, I even said to myself "What are they doing in here?" You'd think that that realization alone would have woken me up or at least allowed for some lucidity in my dreams.

One time I had a dream where I woke up, got out of bed, took a shower, brushed my teeth and did all that stuff, clothed myself, ate, went to the car, went to school, met with friends, went to class, then woke up.

Then I had to do it all again and it made me depressed and also made me question my reality for a moment.

I had a dream last night that my sister and I were renting a movie from Blockbuster, and somehow my Blockbuster account was linked to my ex's credit card. I was like eh, dude owes me like thousands of dollars, he might as well pay for my movie rental...so I let them use his card.

Then he found out that I had charged movies to his credit card and contacted me. And proceeded to try to get me to come back to him. Which is how pretty much all my nightmares involving him go. Which really freaks me out because that is *so* close to what happened right after I started dating Joel. And it's probably ridiculous of me, but it really terrifies me sometimes, even today, the level of control he had over me...

    Ugh.

My brother has had that exact kind of dream too. And it's made him depressed as well. Sorry to hear about that. It does suck. BAD.

Ooh, had one of those myself one time. I was taking a nap on the couch, and in my dreary, subconscious state, I knew it was time for me to wake up. . .SO THAT'S WHAT I DID. I dreamed that I got up, went to the bathroom, and brushed my teeth. This down-and-up cycle happened about ten times in my dream, literally, ten times, and each time I went through the motions, I was doing them quicker and quicker. Realizing that I wasn't waking up, it was as if my subconscious brain was telling me something was wrong.
Then, finally I snapped out of it and practically leaped off the couch.
Thank God I've never had a dream like that again. It was frightening to say the least.

Yesterday I had a dream about having to stay in my house for some reason, and then I saw Father Christmas walk down my drive through the hallway windows. Yeah, I don't get why Father Christmas came into it...

I had 2 dreams last night.

    1) I was hanging around one of my exgirlfriends(not the one I dreamed about yesterday night if anyone was curious) and suddenly she leans in to kiss me. On habit I lean backwards so we won't kiss. She gets upset and is embarrassed and leaves. I actually had no reason not to kiss her. I remember at one point I loved her. I think I did it because I had recently broken up with someone else(in my dream at least) and all that crap. Eventually I found a friend and I talked about whether or not I should give it another shot with her or not. I am pretty sure I decided to give it another shot and tried to look for her but I woke up or can't remember what happened.

Another dream was really weird. My friends and I had a bunch of weapons. Like assault rifles and this one really really powerful and sniper. So I was bored and I thought "I gotta test this thing out" so I move about a few hundred feet away from this tree and I shoot right into it. I look to examine what I did, and there was a hole in it about the size of a fist. Except it looked smooth and such. We later find out that several trees had similar holes. Apparently somehow the bullet entered the tree, ricocheted(sp?) inside, shot out a different angle and did that to several other trees. We then even found a hole that went straight through my friends house. I looked inside the hole and there was his mother on some exercise machine. Basicly her head would have been right in the bullets path. We then call in some expert and he tells us that he wouldn't use this sniper to hunt in Africa let alone shoot it in a urban setting. lol

Oh, you poor thing! What type of kid were you to be afraid of Santa Claus? :)
That's okay. When I was a child, my friends did not believe. It sort of bothered me. But not anymore!

So for the last three or four nights I've been having really similar dream that are all some strange version of reality. I can't remeber them specifically but basically in each one everything feels completely reasonable and normal and there are things in them that I've known forever like my house and rules and stuff but when i wake up and think back on it I realize that all of that stuff is really really strange and things like my house in the dream isn't anything like my actualy house. They're very odd dreams that i get alot and can never really remember afterwards. Plus for the last three nights in a row this one really good friend of mine has been in each dream. I usually don't have many peopl i know in my dreams so the fact that he keeps popping up is weird....

Last night, I dreamt a magician on a flying broomstick "swept" me off my feet and carried me to safety after I had wandered onto some kind of military airstrip in the middle of nowhere, and brought me to a safe place, and her friends were flying on broomsticks as well, alongside us... fun. I also ended up at the bottom of quite a large body of water filled with gigantic prehistoric sea creatures. When I woke up from that, I felt like I didn't have any air in me, as if my breathing had slowed down a lot while I was dreaming of being under water. At least my dreams are interesting, haha.

I recently had a dream that I drank a bottle of vodka with my ex-best friend, directed a floating robot thing to attack him, lit my moms boyfriend on fire, then I left, skipping down a yellow brick road. At the end of the road there was a mountain with a dragon living inside and a heap of treasure. There were hobbits. The dragon attacked me so I stepped backwards but I was suddenly on the edge of a cliff so I fell. I landed on a cement bridge-ledge-walkway thing that had hugged my childhood home and it was flooding around me. The carrots were being carried away by the torrent and I had to save them because they were scared...

I had a very realistic dream the other night that I had some sort of heart condition. It required surgery, but wasn't going to be open-heart surgery. Just before I was going to go into surgery, the doctor's changed their minds and cancelled the surgery but didn't tell me why. I woke up shortly after and seriously contemplated getting my heart checked before I fully woke up.

    It was unnerving...

    Not wonderland, for sure.
The other night I dreamt I was in my backyard, sunbathing and a neighbour of mine was shouting at me. She was extremely obese (and I mean in a Tim Burton character kind of way), had hot pink skin and bright blue hair. There were airplanes flying by and because I was in my bathing suit she was yelling that I was prosituting myself for the airplains. I started to yell back at her, she got up, ran after me, turned into a gigant pink monster with enourmous teeth and grabbed my neck with her two paper thin hands. I knew she was going to kill me and then... I woke up.

Out of curiosity, what are your recurring dreams?

I have the one about my teeth falling out. I also have recurring ones that involve tornados. Those tend to be spectacular, but I'm never really worried for a reason that I'll point out later. (During the last one, my father and I drove through a tornado and I felt the car lifted into the air briefly.) Beyond that, most of my dreams involve other conflicts.

Regarding the tornados, I have this memory--which is questionable--where I'm in the field out back of my grade school with three friends. It's after school, and I usually walk home. (Which I did at the time.) There's a small whirlwind there, not over six feet tall, and we are daring each other to jump through it. One or two of my friends jump through. And I, so very reluctantly, jump through it as well, feeling a misty-coolness during my brief journey.

Building off that--most likely false--memory, I really don't believe I'll die in a storm (tornado), seeing as I've passed through one already.

Strange, yah? It feels so much like a memory. But the more I think about it, how could that be possible?

Anyone else experience anything like this?

I have recurring dreams that I'm being chased. The circumstances are always different, but I am always running away from someone who wants to catch me. Sometimes I know who it is that's chasing me, but most times its not really a person per say (like the mob, evil scientists, etc.).

In the many times I've had dreams of this nature, I've only been caught once and it was when someone was trying to help me. When he gave up on helping me, so did I and I was caught. =\

Most of my "awesome" dreams involve me going to a 30 Seconds to Mars concert. Or hearing them live. But there was this dream where I was hugging one of my erm, non-biological sisters I haven't seen in... little over a year? Made me sad.

I had a dream that I was in one of those disgusting Saw films the other night. I was strapped down to a stone slab and had to wait as this swinging blade grew closer and closer to my exposed flesh a la Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum short story. In most dreams you dont actually die, but I screamed in agony for ages as the blade continually knived through my flesh. When my body had been succesfully severed and had bled out, I woke up.

Few dreams have been more terrifying than that.

 Woah, you poor thing! I've had some freaky dreams in my time, but sheesh...that must've been horrible. I wonder if it's an anxiety thing?

Whenever I'm anxious, I always have a nightmare about my teeth falling out, or breaking, or snapping off. Of course, I'm rushing about, screaming for a dentist to turn up and help me - but there isn't one.

    I hate those dreams.

Yeah, it was a nightmare. (Pun intended?) I suppose it's possible it's an anxiety dreamy metaphor... I do know that I had been told a few hours earlier that my roommate and some of our friends wanted to watch Awake the following night, a film I havent seen before but had been told was scary and about a man who was going to have surgery while unwillingly under no anasthetics, as he was being treated by evil scientists / doctors... We didnt end up watching it, thankfully, opting to see the Saints unfortunately murder the Vikings on Thursday night's NFL opener.

I'll bet you're right that it is some sort of anxiety metaphor, but I think it also just demonstrates how terribly afraid I am of horror films.

The teeth thing sounds awful; I've never broken or chipped a tooth before, so I must rely on my imagination, and I cant imagine something more painful than that.... yergh!

I get those too Ash. They're supposed to be linked to feelings of powerlessness. However, I don't think I've dreamt about my teeth falling out when I've been at my most powerless. It's really odd how it's a dream that's so universal. I had a chipped tooth once and it's nowhere near as terrifying as the same thing happening in a dream.

I have a recurring dream that I am bouncing, just small space hopper type jumps, then they get higher, and higher, and higher until I am bouncing into the stratosphere. It feels good at first then it gets scary because I can't stop it. I tend not to have them much anymore. I wonder what the psychology is behind it.

I also have dreams where I do uncharacterstic bad stuff. I hurt peoples' feelings and cause mayhem. I wake up with enormous guilt then feel elated that I'd never in fact be such a bitch. :)

I have dreams that somehow or other my teeth fall out too. It's so bizarre! I think I somehow feel bad that I don't brush often and this is just my mind's way of making me brush more. "Brush or your teeth will dislodge from your gums." It says.

I don't know about anyone else, but have you guys ever dreamt you were free-falling? It is so freaky and real. You can feel the air rushing around you and the pull of gravity upon your body. And just as you're about to hit the ground, you wake up. I did have one of those dreams recently, but I had them more when I was young.

And here's another weird dream I've encountered at least three times: I dreamt that I could spin around and around then launch into the air, flying wherever I pleased. Weird.

I used to always have dreams of my teeth falling out (I was someone with a lot of self hate and self confidence issues). Hadn't had them for a few years, then after a few days of when i had broken up with Joanne i had at least three dreams of my teeth falling out within a week.

They're so annoying because you wake up and can't believe that all that was just a dream. So real half the time.

Exactly. My free-falling dreams were freakishly weird. The second I'd wake up, my legs still felt like gravity had been pulling on them.

Has anyone had instense dreams that leave you with that gut feeling when you wake up? Those aren't fun.
