I'm happy that I had an *amazing* dream last night which landed a story right in my lap. It was really weird how interesting it was. The names of the characters were even said. Definitely going to be thinking of this for a while...
I just finished it; just typed the last sentence in my story!! A culmination of my last few years of life You heard it here first before I go on my book tour; complete at approx 146K, on the twenty second of May, 2012 Now to sell this fantasy and wait for the kudos to roll in, haha. Just thought I'd share my personal accomplishment and bid much success to all my fellow writers here still pounding on the keyboard.
That's a wonderful feeling, Pallas! Well done! Update: 50k mark! I've been working so hard on my new WIP. Now time for some dinner methinks!
Thanks Kay, and Ash, yup I'm pretty special, haha. Success in your efforts; just when I thought I could rest, you already one upping me with another wip, Ash @_@ I still need another thorough second edit, but I'm glad the storyline is congruent enough to be read and understood at this point should I drop dead.
I thought I'd share my happiness too! I got an internship at a small foreign affairs journal and I've written two articles that have been picked up by other media sources. Working on another two now! Not so much creative writing but it's writing and it's great experience and I'm learning a lot. Foxe
I've finished all my work as an undergraduate! Last exam was today, and now all that's left is the wait while everything is marked and graduation!
British unis don't do majors or minors, but I've been studying for an English BA degree with modules mostly on Literary Theory, Poetry, Creative Writing, Linguistics, and Literary History. My last exam (the one today) was on Realist novels to Modernist novels, Heart of Darkness and Mrs Dalloway and things like that. My dissertation was on Dante's The Divine Comedy, and the political climate in which it was written. Haha. Indeed I can!
Tomorrow's graduation for my brother... just finished his cap and gown last night. It's that time of year.
What a day! Yesterday may well be the best day of my life. I can't think of anything to beat it. 6 o'clock start for the train to London, a walk round the Olympic Park, lunch, then off to Wembley for the League One play-off final against Sheffield United with 20-odd thousand other Huddersfield Town fans. I walked down Wembley Way, took in the statue of Bobby Moore, and found my seat (on the back row of the bottom tier of the stadium, nicely sheltered from the sun - we even had a cooling breeze, which was useful as the temperature in the ground was 40-odd Celsius). The game ended goalless, with us the better side. It went to penalties. We missed our first three! They were winning, promotion was slipping away, then we somehow clawed it back to take it to sudden death. All 22 players took a kick in the end, and it went to the keepers. Ours scored, theirs missed, and Huddersfield Town, after eleven years in the wilderness, were promoted back to the second tier of English football! The celebrations were amazing. As soon as the penalty went blazing over the bar (there's a cracking photo of it on the official website) our end just erupted. The back two rows seemed to join in one many-armed hug, leaping up and down in jubilation. I got lifted into the air by a complete stranger and then turned to give him a massive bear hug. I ended up hugging half a dozen other complete strangers whilst yelling myself hoarse. My voice has gone completely this morning after spending 30 minutes in the ground after the game, applauding every player, chanting the names of the chairman and manager, and celebrating like there's no tomorrow. WE ARE GOING UP, SAY, WE ARE GOING UP!
I have a job interview next week! I'm not getting my hopes up but I'm just glad I've been halfway successful.
Two babies born yesterday. One to an ex (who got a grudging congratulations text), another to an old friend. Who called at one in the morning asking if I'd be her Godfather. So allow me to announce the birth of my Goddaughter, Madison
^ Congrats! -- I had pretty good news over the last week, of the job-related variety. Just wishing I could share it (yet) with friends.
I've just started part three of my new WIP, a YA dystopian novel. I planned this pretty well and I really believe in it, so the writing's going excellently. I've become a much better story teller since my first novel, I think. Or I hope at least. It's very different, anyway, and I'm just happy to see that I've progressed a great deal.
Just got two new dresses, one of which is for my job interview tomorrow, and high heels. I feel all girly.
I started writing again. I haven't written anything since last November. I also think it's about time I just start forcing myself to write even if I don't feel like it. That has to be one of the bigger issues I hav e had. I also decided to revisit a fanfic to sorta ease myself back into everything. I was always rather proud of how it ended up. But I also wanted to rewrite it because I left a major problem. One I hadn't noticed until it was finished. But I am writing!
My roommate recently had hip replacement surgery, and he's finally coming home on Saturday! His progress with the physio therapy has been excellent, so the doctors have seen fit to kick him out of the convalescent home he's been in for nearly two weeks. This is good news!
I keep having more and more great ideas for my book and I've written 17000 in a little more than two weeks compared to 10k in months prior to this. Even if sometimes I doubt what I write and wonder if it's any good, I'm happy right now.
Just moved into a new house and I am tired! Now sitting down with a cup of coffee and some brainless Stephen King book.
