Oh my god it's tomorrow! I think I'm going to die. I wish everyone look and ask other people to wish me look.

I'm in. I have about six hours left before it starts. Some of my friends in other time zones are already underway. I think I'm gonna try to get in 1,000 words tonight (after midnight). I tend to be on fire after dark.

This year, I'm writing the sequel to a sci-fi novel I finished less than a week ago. I'm letting it cool for a month before editing. And that month just happens to be NaNoWriMo. This is my third year and I'm very confident in this one. Outline is minimal. Plot is all in my head. Characters are all returning faces, with a few newbies I'm dying to write.

Good luck everybody. I'm looking forward to seeing who survives. ;)

TWO MORE HOURS!! At least in my neck of the woods. I'm pretty excited :) I only found out about NaNoWriMo last week and signed up for it that day. I think I've figured out a solid storyline to follow though and I've been browsing the forums, getting ideas and creating a sort of outline. I'm pretty pumped :) Good luck to you all!

I started but only got 650 words so far. It's not easy, I will end up with nonsence, won't I? :p

1178 words in. It's a start. This is actually easier then I thought it would be.

I've never done NaNo before. Usually by the time I remember it, November is almost over. But now that I have the chance, I'm going to put it to good use. This month is dedicated to a story that's given me more grief than any other. I've never been able to start it.

Well, now I have a whole 70 words down. That's like a paragraph or something. I'm on a roll.

Happy First day of NaNo everyone! Instead of staying up until midnight, I woke up at 6:30. I felt like I was about to leave for a far away land as I got ready for my adventure. After getting myself pumped and talking to my family, I've written 2,047 words so far. Yay! :D

This is it! Today is the day I roll up my sleeves, plop myself into my chair in front of the computer, and fall asleep! I have a great idea for a story, but it'll have to wait until I finish the story I was supposed to finish last month! The words will pour like gravel over the next few weeks around here in one of my mightiest-ever feats of disorganization and underachievement! I have twice the usual supply of exclamation marks already lined up and ready to go! I already have Lawrence Welk and Alvin and the Chipmunks blaring from my headphones!

~1000 words today. Good enough for me.

I'm not going to make 50k, probably. But I do want to get something done at least.

2822 words the first day. I'm happy with that. :) Now I just need to do it again tomorrow

I got about 3000 on the first day. I was trying to get in extra because I thought I'd be working today, but the job called and they don't need me to come in. I'm shooting to hit at least five grand today and build up a buffer for the slow days. :D

And, most importantly, I love what I've written so far. Don't be a spammer, guys!! It's an easy trap to fall into. I'd rather fail to hit my word count than spew useless words on the page. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be a problem for me (yet).

    Hey, I resemble that remark!

Has anyone strategized on reaching their word-count? Mine is basically push the story forward, then flesh out the scenes immediately afterward. Since I'm doing this without looking back, I end up with stuff that lacks an obvious linear progression. Making good time though. :p

I'm just hoping I get 1000 words a day. That's it. I don't care what, why, the quality, whether it makes sense, where it is chronologically in the story, if I'll use it in the future, or even if it's from the same story, I'm just going to try getting 1000 words a day.

    Sounds doable, right...?

I wrote 400 the first day due to only having about 15 minutes to write. My total is 4038 this morning! :) So exciting!

A little over 5,100 so far, so I'm on pace. I was hoping to get a bit ahead over the weekend, just so I have a bit of a buffer, but if I don't, it's no big deal. I am trying to write something at least halfway decent instead of anything that comes to mind (I'm actively trying to avoid telling as much as possible, for example). Besides, it makes what I'm writing more interesting to me, too. :)

So far, I'm going with the same strategy as the last two times: I'll write a scene a day and try to hit the daily word count goal from there. It breaks up the writing in manageable chunks, I find.

    Good luck, everyone!

About 600 words today, which is reasonably satisfying for me. (I know it's horridly small for most people doing NaNoWriMo)

Ended writing on the line when the main female character tells the main male character to make her a sandwich.

Just over 1200 words today - 8300 in total. Not sure if I can keep this up much longer, however.

How is everyone holding up? Day 6 is almost complete in my end of the world. I just reached 10,194!
The most recent pep talk received in my NaNoWriMo inbox was very uplifting for me. It was nice and casual, but very supportive. Do you have words or a quote that are helping you along your journey? Please feel free to share them.

Mine is a poem: "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas. Always find support in his words. :)

13000 words! I'm almost two days ahead. I'm going to miss most of the week end but I should be able to get about 800 words each day for that time. Any way good lunch to everyone and keep it up.

I decided to do NaNoWriMo for the first time this year -- I'd been really wanting to do it past years, but had never been able to until now (lack of time, planning, no good ideas, etc.).

I am currently two days behind, but I'm not too worried -- that puts me at an average of only 200 words more per day, although of course I hope that, over the weekend, I will be able to write a lot to catch up/get ahead. One problem I was having earlier is that I was concerned that my novel planned might not be long enough to reach 50,000 words. Because of that, I was stuck trying to make the beginning chapters as long as possible to compensate. I realize now that wasn't really necessary, so things should be picking up shortly.

Good luck to everyone else participating. Just remember: You are a writer -- you will write a novel this month. And keep at it! Don't worry about it if you're a little bit behind -- just keep pushing, and catch up!

I'm way behind. 5,358 words. That's not too bad, though, seeing as how I doubt this story will turn into a novel. It will be a novella, tops. 20k words ought to do it. And from there it might get chopped up into two or three short stories that I can try to sell to magazines. If I sell something I write this month, I'm doing better than if I complete 50k words that don't sell.

Oh, well. Cheating and disappointment are in my near future, followed by, with luck, ultimate redemption. And if that doesn't happen, there's always December, and then 2013.

I'm almost 30000 words and will be by the end of the day. :) the best bit is (and this will sound terrible) that so many adults are trying and failing and at thirteen I'm a bit ahead. It feels great writing a novel. Now I just need to hold on until the end.

Well, any updates? How are you all feeling now? I'm a bit behind, but I have faith in rounding up those silly words soon! :)
