Though at the end of a sentence.

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by architectus, Feb 26, 2009.

When "though" is at the end of a sentence, does a comma always go before it?

    I don't really like chocolate ice-cream, though.

    In a nutshell:
    Yes.

Comma goes at the end of the dependant clause when it's at the beginning, though.

    e.g.
Though I want to do some writing, I never seem to find the time.
I want to do some writing. I never seem to find the time, though.

I know it is correct and sounds correct when spoken, but something about writing it like that just seems wrong.

The two thoughs aren't equivalent, though :D. The first is a conjunction (this is clear if you rearrange the sentence: "I never seem to find the time, though (or although) I want...." The second is an adverb, believe it or not, meaning "however".
