Hello everyone on Writing Forums! Unsurprising as it sounds, I found this forum after searching up "writing forums" through Google, and this is what I came up with. I'm impressed by the range of subject matter people write about, and this forum seems to have a fairly dynamic community of people from different walks of life. There'll likely be plenty to learn from here. I go by the moniker of "Hatchling". I chose my moniker in part because I consider myself to be finding my feet as a writer, but this also comes from an impetus to fertilise my ideas so as to produce stories. Through writing, I seek to create a connection between myself and each reader that pertains to the individual reader alone. Short stories are my main focus, and I hope to write works that belong to whoever reads them instead of being just my own creations. I look forward not just to receiving constructive critiques of my writings, but also to read what you've written in turn. I'm confident that many of the folks here are talented and will make for courteous company.

Thank you. I think of writing in terms of story ideas, and any genre of a story I write is more of an afterthought. So basically I'm going where my muse takes me. What about you?
Me too, Hatchling. I am a free spirit so I prefer to write poetry. I only dabble in prose. If someone asked me: what is a story arc?, I'd run for the hills. While my passion is poetry I have written a a novel and dabbled in prose.
