I've been trying to write novels for a number of years, but I keep running into the same couple of roadblocks. Typically I either end up writing an entire plot into each chapter and it ends up reading more like a series of short stories, without any real arc, or I make far too much happen at once, at which point I have one or two chapters written and nowhere to really go. Any thoughts on how to avoid and/or correct this? I can't be the only one with this problem.
