That's an idea for title for a story I have brewing in my head. Basically it's about two cousins who's mothers are witches, and they've inherited magic from them. But the neighborhood they live in is full of supcicious paranoid xenophobes, some overly religious, some racist, and some just suffering from tall poppy syndrome. So the two attempt to go cold turkey on magic. Sound interesting?
A witch is meant to use magic, it's in their blood and their purpose, so abstaining is psychologically difficult, plus they're like twelve, their self control and will is low to begin with. So stuff abou the two that could get them bullied?
maybe it's phisically difficult as well? like their eyes light up if they don't do it for a couple of days...
So any thoughts on ways their magic could work? And what could be features that could distinguish witches a little from normal people? So anyone need to be told what tall poppy syndrome means? Oh and their dads are normal people, could that affect anything?
Tallpoppy syndrome is when somone hates someone because they are "above" you in some way, and so seeks to bring him her down to his or her own level or eliminate them.
So witches telepathicly bond with an animal soon after birth, whom they share a deep intimate connection with, what uses could it have for magic? And how might the two's relationship with their mother's be different from that of their dad's, who are not magic?
There isn't one set animal, one MC has a cat for example and the other has a magpie. So how could the practice of magic work? Would you buy kid's being angry that the Mc's can't teach them magic? And what could be names for the boy and girl? Something to do with magic.
you kinda need to think some on your own. What good would it be writing if you didnt come up with any of it?
