Aliens Don't Bend at the Knees

Discussion in 'Progress Journals' started by Sack-a-Doo!, Feb 9, 2016.

    Not exactly a journal, but...

    6th draft finished.

Tomorrow, I start the 7th, and hopefully final, polish draft.

    Thanks, Tenderiser.

Here's a first kick at the cover letter blurb...

Aliens Don’t Bend at the Knees is a 81,080-word humorous science fiction novel.

It’s 1967 and aliens, on a stopover in Salt River Landing for ice cream, discover the sweet taste of cherries. Now it’s up to an irresponsible teen, Kelly Buckler and his new girlfriend, Ginger, to stop the ray-gun-toting Efisio Doyle from stealing the entire harvest. But when Ginger and the rest of the townspeople are brainwashed into helping with the harvest, Kelly seeks help from the only unaffected people left, the town drink and a pot-smoking ice cream man.

It sounds like a lot of fun. :D Let me know if you want beta readers - it's the kind of thing I'd give a go if I saw it on Amazon.

I have my beta readers all lined up, but thanks. Maybe next time around? I've got two more in the chute.

Sounds like GREAT tongue in cheek (or tongue in ice cream) novel!

This sounds like a lot of fun! Is it a YA or an adult novel?

The MC is over sixteen, so I guess that makes it adult.

I did kind of rush through the last two chapters, so I guess I'll be going back to do clean-up tomorrow. At least it'll be mostly about cutting stuff out.

The 7th draft is done and off to the beta readers.

It got to be quite the slog near the end. Trying to stay focused and fresh for four months straight (a new record for me) has to be the hardest thing I've done since... Huh. I'm really too mentally exhausted to figure that out.
