Contest Winner! Alphonse Capone wins the November 2016 contest!

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Short Story Contest Archives' started by Tenderiser, Dec 1, 2016.

Congratulations to @Alphonse Capone who came first place with President Kanye 4 Life, an amusing but terrifying look at the growing power of social media in shaping world events.

In second place was @Sal Boxford with Toasting Brown Bread, the story of a company bonfire with a cast of dysfunctional but hilarious colleagues... and a Guy Fawkes that horrifies one of the gang.

In third place we have @big soft moose with Honest Intent, featuring three crooks on a devious scheme to break into the Houses of Parliament. But are any of them really being honest?

I plan to post my thoughts on each story when it isn't half past midnight, but feel free to start without me!

Well done @Alphonse Capone. Sorry to say you didn't get my vote, but a great story nonetheless. Honest Intent got my vote. Perhaps my judgement was influenced by the fact I had no idea who Kanye West is, and after doing some YouTube research decided I didn't care.

Congratulations, @Alphonse Capone! Pleased that it makes up for last month. None of those stories deserved 0 votes.

Thanks for your vote too. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well my story did. By my standards it was extremely last-minute (normally any story takes me at least 3-4 weeks). Nice to know I can make something story-shaped much more quickly if I have to.

I voted for Toasting Brown Bread. I'm evidently a @Sal Boxford fangirl, having voted for Your Face in the Mirror in the October contest. :D

Voted for Cherry Pop - the references to popular culture made me smile.

Congrats, mate. You got my vote. You checked off a lot of boxes--readability, dialogue, universe building, setup, etc.
