I'd never 'tell' my friend to do anything with her life. Perhaps you needed to 'suggest'. Also, if I was so concerned about her life that I needed to tell her how to live it, I would never repeat the conversation to 'another friend'.
Whoa dude, seriously. When I thought it was the original friend freaking out, I kind of understood it. But it seems weird for a third party to react like that.
