I remember the first time I was called Captain as a Marine infantry officer and wondering why it felt so awesomely special. Now with a pending contract I may be able to be called an "author". Wondering why that seems like it will be so special - and why I'm intrigued to find out if the "author's life" is truly a walk in a different jungle?
Welcome aboard. Former Air Force Captain here and I understand what you're saying. For me though, it felt more special to be called a Captain than an author. Almost anyone can write (though getting published is special) but it took a proven leader to become an 0-3. What genre do you write?
non-fiction Thanks for the welcome - grew up near Barksdale (SAC). The one coming out deals with entrepreneurship from the relationship perspective - hope to be able to use that to work on some non-fiction..
Hey, hey. I don't know all about marines or anything but I'd take a wild guess that being an author is an entirely different walk than being a marine. Perhaps wilder, more brains and less brawn. Who knows. Any ways welcome!
welcome.. im new too... have fun here.. writing is really a different job.. isnt it.. youll have to love it.. or else youll end up nowhere.. anyways.. have a nice day captain..
Welcome to the Writing Forums seagobe though they don't call me Captain they do call me "Serg" or rather some yell it. I am currently in the army Paratroop Section Para One. I too wish to be called an author one day. I write Various things some of which I have experienced though their for my eyes really. Who knows. But fiction wise mainly I write of a sci fio genre.
Welcome aboard Captain - looks like you're in (a) good company here with what the others have said - I'm no military man but I hope you'll accept my civilian welcome nevertheless!
welcome aboard and congrats on your contract!... who's it with?... for a novel, or...? best of luck with it... love and hugs, maia
