Question about felony charges and registration

Discussion in 'Research' started by carsun1000, May 13, 2015.

    Hello,

I'm working on a piece where a sex offender moves from the State of Florida to Colorado to rebuild his life. If he moves to any new state, is there any law that requires him to register in the new state?
If he has done time for his molestation crime, will his record be expunged?

P.S: this forum seems to be the only place to ask such questions since we are all into writing. other places seem to automatically assume that one is a sex offender rather than an author researching facts.

    Thanks for the help.

According to this: https://www.colorado.gov/apps/cdps/sor/information.jsf , it depends on the exact crime he was convicted of in Florida, as does the length of time he will have to spend on the registry. I doubt if his criminal record will ever be expunged.
