Pardon the language, but nothing else sums it up quite as well.

I love science. Sciencey science science.

There was also Dr. Jack Barnes, who was researching what is now known as Irukandji syndrome, a sickness caused by the sting of the Irukandji jellyfish. It is usually not fatal, but is reportedly one of the most painful painful experiences a human can go through. In order to prove that this tiny jellyfish was the cause of this mysterious, painful sickness, Barnes captured one. He used it to deliberately sting himself, his son, and a lifeguard, and observed the symptoms.

I would comment about the jellyfish, but that's just too cool (and messed up) to comment on.

As for the boyscout, my ninth grade science teacher taught us how to make a nuklear bomb, saying that it was all right because there was no way we could ever get our hands on the materials anyway. He might want to reconsider that.
