What do you call the "top deck of the bunk bed"?

I'm wondering what is the correct term for/great way to describe the upper portion of a bunk bed. :) The shorter the better. Thank you.

I used "upper bunk" at first, it felt strange to me, I think I was nitpicking. Thanks mammamaia!

If the bunk beds are on a ship or a train (or other vehicle), they are also called the top/upper berth.

If the bunk beds are on a ship and it's a modern military setting, we Navy call them "Racks": Top rack, middle rack, bottom rack.
Either way it looks like your description of the top bed of a bunk set is going to be two words long... Unless there's someone who knows the one-word definition for "Top bunk"...?

That is actually relevant to my book. I was calling them top and bottom bunks without really thinking about that. Gotta change it. What do you call roommates in this setting?
