it's nice that we're being protected from ourselves, but those pop-ups are a real pain, 'cause they just don't stop!... or it seems that way, anyway... is there any way we can opt not to have them stopping us from going back to the previous page without having to deal with them first?
Are you sure you want to disable pop-ups on this page? If you do not have pop-ups enabled on your browser, the site may not display as designed. To enable your browser for pop-ups follow the steps that apply to the browser you are using. Click 'Next' to continue or 'Cancel' to return to the previous page. ^^^ Sorry! I couldn't resist!
Yeah it's a bug with the new editor, in your Settings you should be able to either switch to an older style editor or you can just click on Leave Page to let it load.
I don't think it's a bug. A number of people have complained about accidentally navigating away from the page and losing lengthy edits. The pop-up is a feature to protect people from that. However, I also agree it annoys me when I hit the back button before the page has finished loading and get that pop-up. It may be a case of the cure being woirse than the disease.
with the addition of the very nice auto-save feature to our new set-up, are they really necessary?... can there be a way added for us to choose not to have them do their thing, in our settings options?
Go to : https://www.writingforums.org/profile.php?do=editoptions and then look under Miscellaneous Options. There is a Message Editor Interface section, using Standard Editor is like what we had before the upgrade, Simple Text is more like notepad, no formatting options, and there is the newest one, WYSIWYG.
What's so annoying about this is that the ads block the "Remember Me" checkbox. Sometimes I cannot login because the computer can't keep track of my cookies due to the lack of me telling the computer to do so by the "Remember Me" button.
so, cog... can daniel give us the option to not have those navigation away reminders keep popping up, since they're not really needed with the auto-saved function?... or can't he?
I don't know. I suspect it may be an "all or nothing: option, i.e. either everyone experiences them or no one does, but that's only an educated guess as a software developer. Only Daniel will know for sure, and it's possible it's not even an option, but rather a feature of the new version.
