Aspiring horror author

Hi everyone. I am an aspiring author who would like to start writing my first short stories. My native language is french so I often make english mistakes. I am especially interested in scary, horrific and disturbing stories. I would also like to try reading novels in different genres like thrillers, espionnage, drama, science-fiction.

I quit my job about one month ago. I was tired of dealing with agressive clients and I didn't want to suffer from a second major depression in the last three years. I still don't have a job and any revenu yet but I continue my search. Writing will, I hope, help me escape my daily stress and anxiety.

I am here to learn the basics and push myself into the writing world. I often find it difficult to focus on one task until this task is completed. That's why I need accountability from other people. Something I need to be pushed to move forward.

Lol writing horror to relieve stress!! I like it, if it works for you. Head out into those dark woods, maybe you'll run across some of us out there.

 

I have never written a short story before but what I can tell is that reading horror novels lower my stress level.

Hello! Wishing the best for your journey to becoming a writer. I probably cannot jump ship and invested my self by diving in the dark waters of writing just yet. But I'm jealous that you have an opportunity here.

Well let me know if you want me to recommend any horror movies for any ideas you have. My best friend was super invested in horror when I was growing up, so I have watched all the pulpy horror flicks and I really like the art house horror stuff from a24.

 

Got any recent favorites? I've been reading a lot of horror this year and enjoying it.
