So this morning, this is going on in the world of Romance publishing: http://legalinspiration.com/?p=503 ETA: It now has its own hashtag on Twitter - #cockygate
Wow! I think I just got cancer. Also I see this lady, Ms. Hopkins getting massively trolled. I see a lot of negative reviews coming her way! I feel like the Streisand Effect is going to be in play pretty soon, LOL.
98% of what happens on the internet can be traced to either trolling or the Streisand Effect, or a combination thereof.
Is this the "you can't possibly be serious, there's no way that this is even remotely happened, happening, or going to happen in the future?" You can't trademark words can you? Seriously what are the writers going to write if they trademark every word! If this is true I'm seriously considering trade marking "Cutty" "Drinky" and "Wetly"
So after some research I found at this seriously blew up on Twitter!! LOL. Turns out that the the font she used is from a site called Creative Market, who specifically state you cannot trademark the fonts. Granted, trademarking cocky is equally retarded. So in an Instant Karma retribution moment, Miss. Arrogant who tried to bully others is now getting bullied by trolls already!! LOL. Justice served. This makes me think of renaming my book, instead of Kristol of Ancea, I think I rename it to , Kristol, the cocky ass b**** from Ancea. #Cockygate #COCKYbitch Edit: one other thing I noticed, it's really brought out the writing community against miss arrogant and her obnoxiousness. # karmic retribution
LK thank you for bringing this to my attention. It seems as if our dear miss Hopkins has pushed a snowball down a snowy mountain. I do hope the effect of this is only temporary on her career.
Fetuccine Holiday, what kind of pen name is that? I think the only that would take the cake completely is if they decided to go with: Word Salad
Fettucine Holliday is *my* pen name and I have trademarked it. Please remove that post. ETA: Sorry, my bad. Mine is actually Cannelloni Vaycashun.
According to Kevin kneuppner on Twitter a final settlement to the cocky gate case has settled it and withdrawn the cocky trademark. In separate news man with axe visual trademark has also been withdrawn but dragonslayer is still ongoing.
From https://www.cockyauthors.com/: "Jennifer Watson and the Cocky Collective are happy to announce a settlement has been reached in Hop Hop Productions, Inc. v. Kevin Kneupper, Tara Cresent and Jennifer Watson. The plaintiff has surrendered her trademark registrations for COCKY and has withdrawn the lawsuit."
