Hi, I joined a while ago but I never had time to do anything on here... Most of my online friends call me "Blue", so just use that if you like. I'm 18, and though I don't write much, I've been juggling ideas around in my head for the past 4 years (read: entire time I've been in high school). I'm hoping that joining this forum and interacting with other writers will light a fire under my butt and push me to actually write something. My favorite authors include Robert Jordan, Garth Nix, Terry Brooks and Alexandre Dumas. The Count of Monte Cristo is the leading contender for my favorite book. I'm a big fan of fantasy, though I dabble in sci-fi. Umm... and I suppose you'll learn more about me as time goes on! Hopefully, I'll learn more about myself as well, and my writing style will evolve as I read what you've all written. See you around!
Seemed like you did just fine introducing yourself to me Welcome, Blue. Hope you enjoy it here. I'm a fantasy person also... so I look forward to seeing you around. I know in my experience anyway places like this are great for lighting fires Anyway! Sit down, make yourself at home, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask; everyone's pretty friendly.
Welcome to WF, Blue! *Rummages for matches in cabinet* Ah well, can't find any matches! We'll just have to hope everyone's writing on this site lights that fire and gets you to write! Anyhow, if you're looking for a great place to write, get your writing reviewed, read and review (or just hang out), you've come to the right place!
Hello Blue, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Welcome to this forum. I hope you’ll find some tips on writing and that you'll soon start writing down ideas you have. My favorite book is The count of Monte Cristo as well
hey Blue! Awesome, another Garth Nix fan. Just started my summer re-read of Sabriel. Welcome to the forums, and I promise I'll try and keep Lucy away from the matches (though I'd watch your butt if I were you just in case).
Welcome, Blue. Have you finished the Wheel of Time series to date? Robert Jordan and i have a love/slightly more hate relationship.
Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody! Ah, I've been meaning to get to that series. Bit busy reading the Keys to the Kingdom series right now. I'm always surprised by the quality fiction I find in the "Young Adult" section. Indeed I have, and I loved every minute of it. I have a similar, yet different relationship: I love his series, but I hate that somebody else will have to finish it. But I'm keeping my hopes up!
