    Choosing a character POV?

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Smoke Z, May 5, 2014.

I decided to work on a non-omnipotent invisible third person story. I want to look at everyone in the room. Perhaps one or two more than the others, but not the most important.

It would be like watching a video tape and being uninterested in the person being filmed, except for context in favor of who is reacting to it in the background.

Example, noticing who winced in sympathy and who laughed as the birthday boy fell off the chair he was standing on.

Do I need to linger on one person, or can I gently scan the whole room and note who has an interesting expression and use general terms for the mood of everyone that doesn't get mentioned?

Whatever works best for you and what you're writing. There's no correct answer here.
