    Best Scripture for a Character

Discussion in 'Research' started by Dystopian Writer, Dec 6, 2019.

    Hello,

I have a scene in my story in which the protagonist is set to fight another character to the death. I have a 3rd character yell out scripture to the protagonist, which makes the hero not want to kill his foe.

What scripture should I use? I am fine with either the Hebrew Scripture, aka, The Old Testament, or The New Testament.

I have the "turning the other cheek" and the "love your enemy" verses, but I was hoping for more. Something that would make a fighter show mercy to an enemy.

Thank you so much for your time and attention to this matter.
    God Bless.

You could go the whole "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do," route.

Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy?

I would Google "biblical references to mercy" and then read through each one. Whichever one would make you stop is the one.
