    Best Sellers on E-publishers sites

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by Jewels, Oct 27, 2011.

Just wondering if anyone knows how e-publishers determine the best sellers on their websites. Many seems to have a list of books on their homepage. Is this an automated process and can it be trusted, or is it part of their marketing to shift certain titles?

you'd have to check that out for each one... some may use honest sales figures, some won't...

At a seminar I attended they talked about this and said that for many sites the Best Seller list means the books that sell best on that site only. Second hand knowledge but it I guess I believed it. I suppose to be sure you could go to a site and look it up. I imagine some of the bigger sites like, Amazon probably has something explaining how they come up with their list.

    Hi,

Amazon kindle uses sales figures to give a relative sales rank. The others I don't now about.
