Hi everyone! I'd appreciate someone having a look at the first three chapters of my newest WIP, "Nina's Song". Not sure how to describe the genre - fantasy? But not really. It follows the story of a little girl looking for her father, and involves a global adventure, time-travelling gods, friendly demons, magic and mystery and blood and Christ knows what else. Other than that, not sure how to pin it down at all. Would hugely appreciate an outside perspective, especially from a more experienced writer. If this sounds like the kind of thing you'd be interested in, then I'd love to send you the chapters!! And of course in return I'll happily look at three of yours, or whatever you think is a fair equivalent. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and respond to this, I look forward to hearing back!! Piper
I'm down if you want. I've also been thinking about asking someone to look at some of the stuff I've made. I know that I have pretty big biases in favor of what I write, so I kind of need a counter-point to a lot of things I write. Mine is kind of a mix of genres. Due to circumstances within the story, it shifts between Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Ah, it also has several POVs in it. There's about six in total, but each chapter has one perspective and sticks to it. By the end of the story, those perspectives will be trimmed down to three, with a minor character getting, maybe, one or two chapters to share their perspective. If you're interested, send me a message, I'd be grateful for the help.
I am also interested. How many words are we talking about, since chapters can very so much in length? My story genre is hard to nail down as well... more of a modern-era western, I suppose. If you want to trade, send me a message!
I'm knee-deep in another project at this point, as you know, and while I'd love to do a swap I just don't have the time right now. I've just started a new job and I'm going back to school this week, as well as the illustrating work with RZ etc etc. As you know (and as I'm sure a couple of the people in this thread are aware) I'm fairly unreliable at the best of times. I keep meaning to check out your last workshop post but even that is too much of a task at the minute, purely because of time, stress, workload etc. Keep in touch, and if you're still looking for betas in, say, a couple of weeks to a month, I'll do what I can. Apologies to anyone I've let down or been slow to respond to before, and if any of you feel I owe you any more reading feel free to get in touch and, as with @Some Guy , I'll see what I can do in a couple of weeks.
