Which do you think is a better title for another novel I am working on? The Men Riots The Man Riots I used to call the novel Men as it about Men and how they are perceived as aliens.
The Men Riots sounds like riots (noun) in which the participants are men. The Man Riots sounds like a single guy is rioting (verb).
Well I got that title idea that it's the women rioting against the men so I called it The Man Riots. But thinking about it now, I think it should be The Woman Riots. (noun)
These both have the same problem. Riots can be interpreted as a verb, which creates a ridiculous image—a single person can't riot. Maybe try something like The Gender Riots. No, riots still sounds like a verb. Well, just use a working title until the writing suggests a better one. The title is usually one of the last things I come up with (a good title I mean).
Had a mind glitch on that: saw "melee" and read "mélange" which reminded me of a dish called Vegetable Mélange and summoned up a mental image of males being sautéed in a frying pan with just a touch of olive oil.
This is getting very close to Pussy Riot which is the name of a band in Russia well known for their music and activism.
I am such a gloop. It just now occurred to me what kind of pussy is being referred to here: been thinking kitty cats for years. Just put me down as a crazy cat lady.
Oh, I was thinking of changing it to something like 'Toxic Emasculinity' but that totally misses the theme. I'd still probably pick a different title like 'Life on Mars' or 'Going Dutch' but I probably overthink these things.
