Hi! I want hire someone so they can redo the book covers to make it urban fantasy like. What's your best suggestion? Here's my current cover for the first book in the trilogy: I want the covers to look like the omnibus that I recently published: I spent a good money for that one.
Did you see the thread on the other user's cover being drafted by an artist for 'Henry Rider: Clown Hunter's? I don't know if they'd be willing to share their contact, and it's still a work in progress.
Have you tried looking up people on fiverr.com ? I use that place all the time to find good artists and media folk.
I saw it but the drawing style isn't for me. Actually, I used Fiverr to create both the character and the book cover itself (done by two different people.) I'm looking into some higher quality book cover site.
Sorry to be blunt, but you didn't take any of the advice that you got in your introduction thread on board. You're going to end up feeling even more sad when your new cover does nothing to improve the sales of your book.
If you like the cover for the omnibus edition, why not hire the same artist to do the covers for the individual books?
I don't understand what you're talking about. I didn't see any advice regarding the book cover. Good, that makes sense! Thank you!
Because what you were being told is that the book cover is not the thing you need to change to get your book to sell.
Derek Murphy, maybe? https://www.creativindiecovers.com/ Not a recommendation, because I haven't used him. But I have read much of his advice on cover design, and what he writes strikes me as solid.
Just out of curiosity, how many people did you have beta read your books, and how much revision did you do with their feedback?
One Beta Reader is not anywhere near enough. You need to get mutliple eyes on it, maybe at least 6-10. That way if say 9 out of 10 say something didn't seem right to them, or something they didn't like, you know it's a problem. But if it's split 5/5 on if a character is likeable, you can just leave it as is. You've accomplished more than most by completing several books in this series, but have you considered that maybe they just aren't polished enough for publication? I noticed that you've got mixed feedback scores, but only the negative ones offered any meaningful feedback at all. That's where Beta readers really will help, solving some problems before others see it. Of course you can't please everyone.
I didn't think anime girls were used on urban fantasy covers. As far as I know that's a litrpg and hentai themed thing? Is there a niche in urban fantasy that uses these or is it just something you're drawn to do?
Now that you mention it, I don't see any illustrated urban fantasy novel covers (not that I know of.) The most common ones use a stock photo. I simply wanted to add my unique touch by adding a cute illustrated character.
When it comes to covers, generally sticking to the genre standard is necessary. That way people know what they are getting. I think the anime girls are cute btw, just not what urban fantasy readers are expecting in their covers.
To be honest it won't hurt to have a better cover... its difficult to advertise well if you cover doesn't work Anyway hat on this thread is about the users cover.. not the questions they asked in the other thread
