Hi I have finalized my book content and will now create/design both an ebook and a printed book using Adobe Indesign. Will I have to create two versions of my book to get correct formatting for both ebook and print format? Most concerned about the bleed area and similar considerations for the printed copy. Thanks Thommy
I don't think as far as I remember the bleed area is particularly relevant in either case. Just be sure to save copies for each format. Have you thought about making a mock up using white paper and minimal ink and an old book? This is a cheap way to see if you have your size and proportions of your cover correct. Also if the design needs to be bigger or smaller. By using this method with different size books you can be doubly sure you have got the hang of things. Otherwise, I think it is best if you look at youtube which has thousands of tutorials
Thanks for the feedback! Not really sure what you mean with making a mock up and old book? I have my book draft created in Google docs and also added my cover image. Thommy
It is folding a white piece of paper around any old book with the size and proportions printed on it from InDesign first (so you will have plain black lines where it should meet the spine and edges of your book etc). So that when it is folded around the book the lines meet up in the right places.
