    book title preference

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by jazzman, Nov 26, 2014.

    What book title sounds better:

    The Unkindness of Ravens
    A Conspiracy of Ravens

The short story is about a female killer who suffers from Munchhausen by Proxy, who is visited by an elderly couple dressed all in black like ravens who in folklore were the harbingers of doom and the representation of death. They are a reflection of her guilt and sadness.

Unkindess of Ravens wins by a landslide as the better title...which is probably what Ruth Rendell and Lucas Scott both thought!

Perhaps, to avoid that cliché, how about "Raven-Feeder", which was the nickname by which Thorfinn Sigurdsson, an 11th century Earl of Orkney was known?

Bugger, didn't know that title had already been used ... I was first thinking of 'A Murder of Crows' but thought it sounded too cliche

I like the second one as well. It just rolls off the tongue.

My vote would also be for "conspiracy."

I'll go with A Conspiracy of Ravens as well.
