One of my characters ends up getting arrested for bribery, about five counts. Does anyone know if this character would get sent to jail? If so, for how long? If this doesn't warrant jail time(and I'd honestly be surprised if it didn't; but obviously, I'm not an expert on the ins and outs of the American legal system), how would this character be punished?
He would be sent to court first, and more than likely jail, yeah. Five counts of bribery is serious, and depending on the people and reasoning for the bribes, could make that a serious trial with jail time not in the single digits.
why don't you google for bribery trials in the us?... news stories will give you details and the sentences...
