    Burr

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by BREEZER, Oct 21, 2017.

    Good afternoon,

Just wondering how to use Burr in a sentence and the difference between burr and brogue.

My character has a Scottish accent. When I introduce him in my story, I'd like to describe the vibration of his r's when he speaks and I'm wondering if this example makes sense:

The trilling burr sends waves a goosebumps across my skin.

If not, how do you suggest I work this sentence.

I have tried googling the words but I can't find examples where they've been used in sentences or how/if they work together.

    Many thanks

brogues are irish , burrs are scots .. burrs don't trill so your example isnt working (trill is a high pitched tone)- personally I'd just say "he spoke with soft Scots burr" or whatever
