Never said they didn't have the right to do things that make no sense. And if they deliberately want to screw up their chances of reaching more readers, so be it. I just don't understand why they would. Most writers I know want more people to read their stuff, not less. And it doesn't have to be about conformity or "yearning to be accepted" - that's just more "I am an artiste!" rhetoric. You could give away the book and you still wouldn't have as many readers as if you had gone with standard punctuation. And that's why most people write - because they want people to read their stuff. At any rate, at least you confirmed what I've already said - it doesn't make any sense.
