    Car Crash... Played Out?

Discussion in 'Plot Development' started by AllWrite, Nov 11, 2008.

Is using a car crash to sort of change the events or come to a climax in your story played out? Has it been done millions of times and is too obvious? In my book that I'm writing that will be a NYT Bestseller I'm wondering if I'm being too cliche. Your thoughts and what other "Game Changing" ideas are played out?

    lol at your siggy...

If you're throwing something in at the end to resolve your plot, whether it's through a car crash or some other "device," then it comes off as cheap & gimmicky. Don't do it.

If it comes across as cheap or gimmicky, rewrite it. Plot elements are not cliche, they only look that way if you don't write them well.
