*Cautiously backs out of thread, wondering if there are any spare beds available in the local psychiatric unit.*

It does seem like washing is the standard reaction to unsettling situations for cats. Interesting. Perhaps worth some experiments to figure out why... I think next time I do something embarrassing, I'll hurry out and take a shower and see if it somehow helps.

Not in the lead anymore. :(

Haha, please do post the results.

I think it's really cute when one of my cats rolls over as if I'm going to stroke them. I would, but I'm scared they'll scratch me so I just stroke them until they roll over and I'm like 'no, I'm not stroking your stomach'. :p

Also, my cats did synchronised cleaning earlier on the patio. It was amusing.

Please do research first. Your own. Vets are great, they really are, but Science Diet is a truly horrendous food. The Vets get kickbacks for selling it. Pets on a prolonged diet of Science Diet food actually become malnourished. It has horrid things in it that your pet should not eat. It actually is no better than the five dollar bargain bag of food you can get at the dollar store. There are much better foods. Please, please, don't do that.

Wait. If it's so bad, then why is it still being sold? It's a genuine question, nothing snarky or anything. I am actually confused by this.

I have it under good authority that cats are actually aliens who want to take over the world.

    ^^^ Totally true.

LOL Cats are awesome. What other animal can give you the evil look so well?

You really must be from Mars. ;)

It takes a long time to get a product off the market and out of advertising. Consider those stupid "energy wrist bands." Snake oil if ever there was, but they still get to advertise and market it. And there are many, many "herbal remedies" with absolutely no independent research as to their efficacy or safety, and those are ingested by people. The standards are much worse for products for pets.

Anyone who has a pet should totally check out this site it's a dog food analysis site (independent) and I promise you will be shocked at all the 40 and 50 dollar a bag foods you are feeding your pet, thinking you're doing such a great thing, when they're actually in the 2 star group with grocery store foods and generics. I mean like Iams, Eukanuba, Hill's Science Diet... 2 stars people! And this site will even explain why. You don't think twinkies are good for you, don't blindly accept television ads and Vets who get kickbacks either. You're inadvertantly hurting your best friend :(

@Kio - Do you know that AAFCO actually has an allowance of the amount of plastic, metal, and nylon that is allowed to be in pet food. That they deem it is OKAY for your pet to eat? Research is key.

Like wolfi said, cats cleaning themselves at the same time. They were even in the same positions cleaning the same part of themselves and everything.

My cat may not be a snob after all. Apparently I slept late and she hopped on my bed meowing at my ear.

    Awww...she really does care!

Here's a question for you cat lovers. My Sullivan is still a kitten (about 6 months old now, we adopted him about 3 months ago) and he loves to "dry suckle". I've never had a kitten do this before but I've heard it's kind of common. He'll start sucking on your arm or your clothing or whatever he can get his mouth on LOL. It can be quite irritating because he slobbers while he does it so we're trying to train him not to. Anyone else have this problem?

Misses grew out of this. All kittens do it. I think the main thing is to make sure he doesn't start suckling. Like if tries to latch onto your finger, remove your finger, etc.

Though I kind of feel bad. I love when they groom you and babies suckle on the fingers. I like the feel of their tongue.

I've heard of that. Kitty thinks you are mommy and wants milk. Poor guy was seperated from mom too early.

Yep spaying and neutering is really important...

I have a cat, and I really like cats a lot better than dogs. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs too, but having one really wouldn't be compatable with me. You've got to always walk them, play fetch with them, be there to let them go outside when they need to, and it's a lot more maintenance. With cats, you've just got to clean their litter box once a day and make sure they have plenty of food and water, and give them a bit of attention, but you can leave them alone and they'll be fine. They're very independent and like being free to do their own thing, just like I am. Plus my cat sleeps in my bed with me at night and purrs when I wake up at 3 a.m..... My cat and I get along. :)
