    Chapters?

Discussion in 'Revision and Editing' started by katica, Jun 17, 2011.

So I've been submitting a short story recently to publishers and think I have the formatting mostly down for that, but . . .

I've also been working on a novel for a year and a half and I think I'm getting near its completion. The problem is, my short story didn't have chapters. I know scene breaks are indicated with a # on a manuscript, but how are chapters done?

Do I write "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2","Chapter 3", etc. at the beginning of each chapter? Do I leave them out completely and let the publishers divide it up? Or what do I do?

yes, you should number your chapters... in any way you like...

to separate them, start each one 1/3 of the way down on a new page...
