hey there, well, guess it's time for me to introduce myself to this community here. from time to time I'd throw glances into this forums but somehow I never felt the urge to register... huh, but the time has come now, can't possibly say hot it's come ^^ about me: name is Christian, I'm at the young age of 21, and, here's the clue: I hail from Germany currently working in rescue rervice and studying medicine, but the bits of time I can gather I use for writing. Currently there are two novels I'm working, or not working, at: first of all an Urban Fantasy novel in a world not unlike the World of Darkness (the pen&paper rpg from White Wolf) with a half-demon protagonist out of first person perspective. But that project is a bit out of order at the moment... my focus lies on my other novel; Which is actually a series. High/Epic Fantasy with about a score of main characters. I think I don't bore you with a plot reciting... instead I'll bore you with what was my first try on a teaser to the first novel Nostara Felin'dae, infamous changeling, caught up in the freezing winds of the Northlands, is about to outspace the Aurelian Empire and its deadly grasp on the so-called black arts of her race, followed only by her wary companions – Balieth Darramistyl, a morai, cast out for desertion, with nothing more in mind than survival, Grim the Deathless, former barbarian champion of the North, weary of the one-sidedness of the tribes, and Artemis Maljinn, a saphirian merchant who has finally run out of luck, trailing a shadow of his dark past. Aurelia however, the Empire that had outran entire dynasties on its borders, prepares for another expansion campagin, stretching its borders north and south. But the threat that it faces lies neither in the north nor in the south – for in the east lies the ancient city of Goremound, with a terrible force in its catacombs waiting to be unleashed. Only Artemis Maljinn carries the truth with him. But will he survive war and pursuit long enough to realize that great peril stands at the world's door? as you might have noticed, yeah, I'm writing in english. hope that's a good start and we'll come along just fine here. sincerest greetings chris
Hello Christian, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Oh, I see. Thank you Cogito, I'll try to play by the common rules here. Hopefully I'll get some free time to look into some other postings and review a few of 'em.
