Sad Stuff: Anything by Keane, bit of Procol Harum (A Salty Dog) Up beat scenes: Frank Sinatra, any bit of jazz I can get my hands on Dark things: Rise Against, some Muse, random stuff I find, Death Note OST However I mainly use the soundtrack from Cowboy Bebop for most things, I only go to the above when I really need to get my head in the zone.
Nothing for certain types of scene but lately I have been listening to Tom Waits a lot while I write.
All Prog; concept albums, odd time signatures, tempo changes and string passages. The Mars Volta's Frances The Mute has been the soundtrack to my current WIP. Another good one is Dream Theater's Scenes from a Memory. Beautiful album.
