I'm reading my first novel over the phone to my 92-year-old mom. I almost hope she gets bored and cuts me off before I get too, too deep into it--- How will I ever manage the sexy bits?

Well, like they say, 'Alcohol! Because no good story started with someone eating a salad.'

the incidence of salad eating in fiction is pretty low when you think about it.

Better than the people who decided I use a lower-case "l" for some reason and call me "Lain" online.

I am so ready for spring, even though I technically like winter. But single-digit-above Farenheit temps (and sub-zero) get really old really fast. Or maybe I've just gotten really old.

I had to hand in my 'cool badge' this week. I popped in to our local supermarket to buy a few things only to realise when I reached the checkout that I left had my wallet at home.

I did a couple of times. It tasted like an estuary smells at low tide only with a lot of salt.

I've never had proper caviar, however, I have eaten raw salmon eggs fresh from the fish...don't know if that counts...

I consider myself a nerd, but have never been interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons. Don't care for comic books either.

Not sure what this says about me, but the images of young Ukrainian women in full military kit defending their country makes me feel good about humanity.

When the director's cut of Apocalypse Now was released to theaters I went downtown to see it. However, it had been retitled into something entirely in kanji so I couldn't read the new name at all. I went to the ticket booth and said:

    アメリカとベツナムのバババ映画おねがいします。
(Amereeka to Betnam no BA-BA-BA eiga onegaishimasu)
(America and Vietnam BANG BANG BANG movie please)

The clerk understood and sold me a ticket.

I've never used a parking brake, unless you count the chunk of 4X4 tied to a piece of rope I threw under a tire of my 1953 GMC 1-ton flatbed truck.

Of the three major comic book to film superhero franchises, I have only seen the first of each. Christopher Reeve as Superman, Michael Keaton as Batman, and Toby McGuire as Spiderman.
