Well, the news is no doubt going to be full of reports of how many people have missed their university offers, and how exams are getting easier after the 29th consecutive year of improving grades, but I just wanted to say well done to anyone who got their A-Level results today. I've already blogged my feeling on the above matter (which you can read at my external blog, if you're so disposed), but I think that overall the young people of Britain have done brilliantly. So congratulations on your results, and good luck with whatever you're doing next, be it university, work or something else.
It's good to know that British kids are doing great, educationally. Here in California, we recently ranked as the third-dumbest state in the USA. I'm a little upset about that. Huge high school dropout rates.
Congrats to all who got the grades they wanted to get into uni, and commiserations with those who didn't. Now for 3/4 years of trying to get the Student Loans Company to give you your money
Congratulations to those who did well. To those who didn't do as well as they would have liked, I can promise you that it's not the end of the world. I hate it when older generations complain about exams and young people enjoying lower expectations... I study every day material that my parents and grandparents wouldn't even dream of taking on. I work very hard, and I don't take kindly to people saying that I'm only doing well because people of "their" generation have made it easier us. I cant speak to difficulty, but I would definitely say that the bars have been raised and expectations are higher --and many young people have risen to that challenge. Haters gon' hate. Keep smiling and be proud of yourselves no matter how you scored!
Still doing A2s. But that should be enough to secure a place at Highlands and Islands Uni anyway. Nice!
